  • Child molestation

[Read the article: The evolution of creationism]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I consider teaching ID or Creationism or any of the religious explanations of the origin of species to be a form of child abuse, as devastating to the growth and development of the young mind as putting a hand in the kid's underpants.

It is possible to believe in God and still be sane.

  • The Good Fight

[Read the article: The evolution of creationism]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

No matter how tired I am or disgusted I am, I cannot just throw up my hands and walk away from my sense that teaching either naked creationism or ID to kids is as bad as putting your hand in their underpants. I have to go on fighting them. I read the entire Dover decision and I was impressed by the firepower the plaintiffs brought to bear.

It cost a million dollars to tell the truth but it was worth it. The school district, now in sane hands, will have to pony up that money but it is infinitely well spent making sure that Dover is a good place to raise kids. They ought to sue Buckingham and the other defendants to recover the money. They can get triple damages for fraud because Pandas was purchased on the sly if I am not mistaken. That ought to be enough to buy the houses of the creationists and turn them into natural history museums or something else constructive.

  • Hang 'em high

[Read the article: A defense fund for Gonzales? How quaint]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Gonzales should be tried for attempted murder, the intended victim being the Constitution. He should be made to go through a perp walk with hands shackled behind his back and should be kept in jail in lieu of bail so that he is forced to talk to people for whom there is genuine mitigation -- to wit, his fellow prisoners who are victims of the system he degraded. When he is convicted, he should be forced to serve his sentence in Florence, CO supermax. He should never be allowed to forget that he almost murdered what made us a country and that he may have done more damage to the country than Osama Bin Laden.

  • Fascist impulses

[Read the article: Sheriff Rudy, crime fighter?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Rudy spent eight years roiling the waters of New York and taking credit for everything. He couldn't stand an upright and functional police chief so he installed a corrupt toady. He was responsible for the killing of two black men and the sodomizing of a third by creating the illusion that anything was okay. He managed to cripple the FDNY by refusing interoperability between the police and the firefighters, a decision that led to the death of hundreds of firefighters on September 11th. He now has the nerve to present himself as a crime fighter and a hero. I am a New Yorker and I would not vote for him if he paid me.

  • Oh, crap

[Read the article: Did Bush ask Scott McClellan to lie -- or didn't he?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I am tired of reading about the duplicity of this administration and not having anything done about it. I really think it's time for Bush and Cheney to be impeached and brought to answer for their acts. If you're not going to do that, shut up already and let us get about the business of hiding under our beds.

  • Well said

[Read the article: The Giuliani code]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I am a New Yorker and I am tired of Rudolph Giuliani. We had eight years of his arrogance, his race baiting, his exploitation of a tragedy. I don't frankly give a flying fig about his marriages...that merely reflects his character on a personal level...but I do care about the way he gave Bratten, a superbly competent human being, the bum's rush. I care about the sweetheart deal with Motorola that left the firefighters high and dry on September 11th, his wrapping himself in some kind of illusion of competence. Placa and Kerik are mere proofs of the fact that he is a moral imbecile, the classic term for a psychopath.

  • Behaving like scum

[Read the article: Covering up the trail of dead Iraqis]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

We have just about destroyed Iraqi civil life, ravaged their electricity, food and water supplies, turned loose a civil war and done just about every piece of damage we could possibly do. It is going to take them a long time to recover from us and they may never do so. We have been shown to be werewolves on speed in the Middle East. How is lying about how bad it is beyond us?

  • Nothing suprises me

[Read the article: Giuliani's terrorist ties]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Giuliani has feelers out all over the place. Whoever will either pay him or suck up is welcome. This is the thinking of a Mafioso or of our current President.

I am not sure that Qatar's government is intimately linked with Wahhabi/Salafist Islam or with radicals within Islam. I am sure that Rudy would look away when confronted with evidence to that effect.

Rudy is already in such ethical trouble His affair was protected by police officers whose pay was hidden in obscure agencies. Why would it need to be if it was a legitimate expense protecting the Mayor? He was being protected while he was out screwing a woman who was not his wife, a wife he threw away in a public humiliation awesome in its ugliness. He was covering his tracks. Bernie Kerik was covering his *** so auditors couldn't get at it. Bernie the ethically challenged procurer. It gets uglier and uglier.

  • Mad man, mad behavior

[Read the article: Alleged hostage taker filed molestation suit]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

From what I read, his relatives say that he is seriously psychotic and needs to be hospitalized. I am grateful that nobody was hurt (although many were terrorized) but the man needs to be in a secure psychiatric unit. It might also help if he were given his meds IM rather than by mouth to make sure he takes them.

I just hope that he doesn't give aid and comfort to those who say that priests don't molest people and that the charges against them are false and libelous.
