I was in grad school at Fordham at the time and I didn't hear any of that. I gather that the university handled it quietly and well. If the charges are true, and I assume that they are given the way it was handled, Hudson has no place in the McCain campaign.
Ashcroft has developed a conscience rather late in life, hasn't he? He has started to be Mr. Integrity and let us see the corruption bit by bit. Wouldn't it have been more meaningful if he said no way before he did?
I would never stop self-identifying as a Jew but Joe Lieberman is an embarrassment. He doesn't make me wish I were not a Jew but he does make me wish he were not a Jew.
His pact with Hagee is, frankly, disgusting. Hagee thinks Jesus will slaughter all the Jews who don't convert with a completeness that Hitler never reached on that great never-to-happen day Jesus decides to come back. Hagee wants all the Jews packed into Israel so Jesus doesn't have to break a sweat to do it. Hagee is willing to back to the most psychotic members of the Israeli political scene, kill off innocent Palestinians and provoke a war to get done what he wants.
Any Jew who gets within eyeshot range of Hagee ought to be aiming a Taser or a container of pepper spray.
The way our government has deteriorated over the past nearly eight years is so depressing I'm wondering why more people haven't stuck their heads in the oven a la Sylvia Plath. The structure of rights and responsibilities that used to define us has been sat upon and desecrated.
If we ever want to be the United States again, we are going to have to launch an investigation, probably by the Justice Committees of the House and Senate, of what went so tragically wrong. If President Obama doesn't want to have trials of those who committed crimes against the Constitution, we can at least have a kind of Truth and Reconciliation Commission to air what happened so that everyone knows what the rules actually are.
Refusal to appear would not be an "old" crime but rather a new one. Lying to the Commission would be a "new" crime, too and the witnesses could be given the choice of telling the truth under immunity or going to jail for contempt or perjury.
Doesn't McCain realize that the less he gets covered, the more he gets away with. His interview on "Today" with Meredith Vierra was painful and embarrassing for him. His gaffes are piling up higher and higher and more doubts have been raised about his competence.
For myself, I want to see him submit to a neuropsychological test battery such as is used to detect dementia before it becomes clinically evident. I want to see brain scans to make sure that he doesn't have some dead zones in his gray matter. I want to know that his gaffes are due to ignorance and not a dementing illness. The fact that he REPEATS his gaffes is scary to anyone who has a relative in the early stages of dementia. Forgetting something one has been told repeatedly like the difference between Sunni and Shia is not a sign of ignorance but of something much, much worse for the country.
Hint: McCain is white. Obama isn't.
People are trying to get their heads around the idea of a President of the United States from a group that was enslaved less than 150 years ago.
All this stuff about his "foreign" roots, his "maybe Muslim" and other aspects of Obama, which he will have to go on shooting down, is cover for questions about whether a person of color can lead this country.
I think he can do it but I'll be that's why things are so close. McCain is going to flub himself into more corners and the electorate will still have to deal with whether a black guy is better than a senile white guy.
If running for President and then being President, doesn't age you, you're not doing the job right.
This is not the job for the faint of heart or the elderly.
We can get the liberals we need by replacing Republicans with them.
I don't agree with tossing elected officials out for anything less than having sex with Madonna or other acts of folly and indiscretion.
His role in the outing of Valerie Plame aside and his noxious supercilious attitude aside, nobody wishes anyone to die of cancer. If he does have a malignant brain tumor, he faces a horrible period of treatment and, depending on the grade of tumor, a rather prolonged death. This does not mean I will miss his work at all but just that he is a member of my species. I'm not sure I include Cheney in my species but Novak, yes.
That's what this Moses/Obama ad is. Thtupid. Someone over at Huffingtonpost suggested that Obama use the ad as an answer to false statements about being Muslim.
I smell flopsweat at the McCain camp, the growing sense of desperation. They have to make Obama into an "uppity n*****r" who thinks he's God's messenger. Then suggest that he's not only an uppity n*****r but he's also a Jew (Moses) arraying himself against the white Christian race. They dared not use Jesus because the associaton of a person of color with Jesus would get McCain shot at.
