why not observe the obvious?

Meanwhile, the Republican National Committee is circulating a compilation of video clips showing Howard Dean, Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton and other Democrats talking tough about Iraq in the past. Bush said yesterday of his Democratic critics: "They spoke the truth then and they're speaking politics now."

It has been my experience that when people rebut this line of attack, they never seem to use the most obvious observation:

Sure they thought he was dangerous when Clinton was feeding them the intel... but not so dangerous they had to invade. That is, until the Bush whitehouse started making their case.

not to be a blowhard...

From past experiences about such outrages to friends who are journalists would point out that the fact the man was a Republican wasn't really relavant to the story...

The 'story' was the dude's admissions, and quitting congress. This is actually what 'fair' reporting looks like...

The only problem is, I'm pretty sure FoxNews opinon/anchors would be crowing from the catwalks if it was a Democrat that the dude was a Dem...

It is in this way that Fox's coverage bias is subtle... This is further underscored by my observation that much of the time it's pretty obvious when the opinion/anchor is wearing his/her 'opinion hat'... the confusing bit is they break up actual newscast to give it, making their 'news' coverage seem to be biased...

I too believe this is remarkably shady and misleading... but if we are going to be accurate about things, let's be accurate and call the appropriate kettle black.

Seems like a contradiction to his arguement

his former fiance is pregnant with his child and has chosen to keep the baby. About the fiance's decision, Conley attempts diplomacy, writing, "That is her right, of course, and nobody should be able to take that away."

Seems like a contradiction to his arguement, if you ask me... If the man is to be given equal rights to veto, he should be given equal rights to force the woman to have an abortion...

Which, of course is so disturbing, I don't even want to go there... Also, if the man is allowed to veto an abortion, is he going to go to greater lengths to enforce child support payments? What if the guy only vetos the abortion to saddle an uppity-ex with a child?

What a dick.

Yet another reason for the fundies to get thier panties in a twist...

this quote:

First lady Laura Bush wraps things up by saying: "President Bush and I wish everyone a happy holiday."

from this story at the washingtonpost.com:

What bothers me about

the times piece is this quote buried deep in the text

After meeting with senior administration officials to hear their concerns, the newspaper delayed publication for a year to conduct additional reporting.

They delayed it's publication for a year? I wonder if they started the delay before the election?

umm...

I'm pretty sure the 'father' in this quote:

"Pursuing a life outside of the home, day in and day out, at college or a job, has a way of wooing and stealing our hearts away from our God-given role of being keepers at home and from our families -- especially in seeing the blessing our father's covering brings. It is not a sin to go away to college or to have a job (unless your father doesn't wish you to do so), but it is not wise or prudent."

Is meant to be capitalized, and is a reference to God, not some woman's actual father.

Personally, I'm both an atheist and a man, and I'm pressing the point only because making such absurd mistakes makes you look foolish, undermining the other excellent points in your post.

the bit I find interesting in your analysis

is that you slide over this scenario:

They don't say political operatives didn't listen to the calls before deleting them... nor do you mention how long they held them before deleting them, or where they were stored until they were deleted (that is, were they in a secure location and ANYONE who accessed them could be monitored?)...

That they were 'deleted' is meaningless. what is important is who listened to them before they were deleted.

what bothers me most

about Kerry's call was it seemed almost perfectly timed to coincide enough votes being confirmed to force cloture... Making it truly appear as though it is purely pandering... to make a 'show' for the rubes in the flyover states who happen to be pro-choice.

But...

On the flip side, consider a remarkably unscientific study of the cartoons avaialable on Nick. Although clearly an older demographic, nearly all the models for boys are that they are idiots, or in some way sidekicks to the boys in the shows.

In fact, the only two exceptions to this rule I've been able to find are Jimmy Neutron, and Danny Phantom.

In all of these shows, if both of the parents aren't complete idiots, only the women are ever shown to be even remotely reasonable.

I don't know where to send tips so...

I figured I'd just post it here.

When I and others who read my blog go to this link:

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4258374615945369026

they get the error, "This video is not playable in your country" is returned...

I'm in D.C. everyone who can't view it are in random locations in the states as well... Here's the gimick: a friend in Canada can view it.

The topic of the video?

The blowing up of a weapon's cache in Iraq.
