Thanks a lot for that link to VHEMT
[Read the article: No need to breed?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I just read over much of their material. Personally, I think they reach a pretty satisfying balance between making a valid point and bringing some much-needed levity to a complex and serious issue. Its seems that you don't appreciate their use of humor. Oh well, to each their own. My wife and I have enthusicastically supported the Childless By Choice movement since our very first date. But the somberness of much of the literature associated with the movement leaves us a bit cold. Some of us like the kind of sarcasm and wit associated with VHEMT, and some of the other young couples that we know whom we are encouraging to stay childless will undoubtedly appreciate it as well.

Well, its a start
[Read the article: McCain to Congress: No more pigs at the trough]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Just as I think that Campaign Finance was a good *start* at reform, this package sounds good, but should just be the first step.
To this I would add:
Forget lengthening the time between serving and lobbying. If you served, you cannot lobby. Ever. And make sure that includes the kind of garbage Scanlon was involved in. And I'm not just talking about elected officials either. If you have ever worked for a congressperson or an administration, you're banned. Period.
No trips, gifts, events etc that benefits an elected official, his immediate family or "charity" under their influence can ever be paid by any private company, lobbying firm, PAC, etc. Its just too easy to pull the kind of scam that Frist is doing with having his patrons donate to "charities" that then employ Frist's cohorts at greatly inflated fees.
Any company, PAC, firm etc caught trying to buy influence in the government should be permanently banned from ever doing business with the government again. And their principles should also be brought up on charges and permanently banned. This will prevent the scum from simply reincorporating under a different name and conducting business as usual.
Finally, let's find away to do away with immediate family member lobbying members of congress and the administration. I've read too many stories about spouses and children of prominent members lobbying for their causes. Tom Daschle's wife lobbying congress on behalf of the airline industry comes to mind. Simply a disgrace.
Big Money is destroying Democracy and is a far greater threat to America than a few nutbars with box cutters.

Is that ok?
[Read the article: Comedically challenged]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]in a word, yes.

Hmmm
[Read the article: "I'm a conservative Christian and this film changed my mind"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]People say al kinds of things on the internet, especially when they get to post anonymously. So, as much as I'd like to be optimistic, I'll have to remain agnostic regarding the veracity of this post. In my experience, people with strongly held beliefs and prejudices just don't change their minds after a two hour film, or book or whatever.
On the other hand, if this is true, its one of the most powerful and moving things I've read on the net. It could just give me a little more faith in humanity, which is sorely hard to come by these days.

I have to say
[Read the article: W's Ohio humiliation]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]that uprwesidguy's letter on this subject is one the smartest and most concise pieces of analysis I've ever read on BushCo, their goals and their success. It's almost frightening in it's simplicity and laser-pointing to the truth.
For Bush, it is far better to be thought of as an incompetent, but affable boob than to be exposed as the sociopath that he really is.
As for promoting the agenda of the Plutocracy to the expense of everyone else, Mission Accomplished!
