  • Philosophy

[Read the article: Honey, I read "The Stranger"!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

    from "A Fish Called Wanda"

    Otto: "Apes don't read philosophy."

Wanda: "Yes they do Otto - they just don't understand it!"

  • Forget the press.

[Read the article: Clinton's Iraq questioner: Her answer was "cold and calculated"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The press is not entitled to its opinions. Labeling a candidate as 'authentic' or not, is advocacy - not reporting.

This is the same kind of crap that the Fourth Estate did to Al Gore. Ignore these characterizations. Hillary said she wouldn't have voted that way if she and others in the Congress had not been misled by the Bush Administation.

    That's good enough for me.

  • To borrow from Paul Conrad...

[Read the article: "I've been led to believe that there's a good response for it"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

    ... seen on giant tombstone,

    "Here lies the GOP"

  • GOP - Glib Odious Phonies

[Read the article: National Review's new tough guy, Mark Hemingway]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Fake masculinity, and the whimps behind the curtain.

  • @shooter242

[Read the article: The endless, meaningless blather from the Washington establishment]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Stop playing with the troll -- maybe he's an Aynarchist (Objectivist).

The way we can punish the millionaire pundits and their corporate enablers is to go back to pre-Reagan taxes -- adjusted for inflation.

And ending all offshore tax exemptions.

  • Clinton lost my vote today.

[Read the article: Amnesty Day for Bush and lawbreaking telecoms]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Even though Obama new that his being there wouldn't change the outcome, at least he went through the motions to show up and vote against amnesty.

What's next -- retroactive immunity for George III ?

If she is the Democratic nominee, then I will write in Ralph Nader.

  • Way to go Glenn

[Read the article: "Great American Hypocrites: Toppling the Big Myths of Republican Politics"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

First, the Republicans. Since they march in lock-step, we only need one in each house -- my vote goes to Chuck Hagel in the Senate.

Secondly, a third progressive party is needed to prevent a Democratic Party hegemony. Those of us who live in California know what I'm talking about.

Finally, a purge of the Democratic Quislings in the Zell Miller - Jay Rockerfeller ilk.

A long, tough but worthwhile fight. Keep it going Glenn!

  • Before we go after the Democrats

[Read the article: "History will not judge this kindly"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

61 filibusters last year by the Republicans.

    Marching in lock-goose-step.

  • Ad Hominem?

[Read the article: Is it "contradictory" to decry the right's tactics while insisting on their equal application?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I believe an ad hominem attack would be to declare that certain characteristics of a targeted person render his or her opinion on a not necessarily related issue invalid.

It's a logical fallacy, and I don't expect there is any of this sort of thing in Mr. Greenwald's book.

Perhaps Mr. Barnett could temper his "fondness" for Latin phrases by looking up their precise meaning, or take a college course in Logic 101 prior to using them in a review.

  • For the 20% or so of Americans suffering from irony poor blood...

[Read the article: Why the Jeremiah Wright story deserves more attention]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The funny thing is that the loonies of the Right would read this on the air as a legitimately serious tirade against those Liberals.

    Recipe:

"Just add 1 blowhard, 2 scoops of fake umbrage, 1 cap of Cognitive Dissonance. Stir until boiling. Sprinkle on a few rib tickling misquotes. Half bake, then self serve."

  • Boring

[Read the article: Blacklisted by the Bush government]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

onecald -- Keep sipping the KoolAid.

Everybody else -- Stop feeding the troll. It slurps loudly.

  • Disigny and dogs.

[Read the article: The California marriage decision and basic civics]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Dogs, like other non-rational beings, cannot give informed consent to marriage.

Marriage constitutes a contract between sentient beings of the same species.

Otherwise, what would prevent Freepers from marrying blocks of wood? (As opposed to just seeming that way.)

  • Look at the dissenters.

[Read the article: Supreme Court restores habeas corpus, strikes down key part of Military Commissions Act]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Woe for us that Roberts, Scalia, Thomas and Alito continue to allow their personal beliefs to trump over our Constitution and their oaths to defend it.

    Still -- an important victory!

  • Grasping at straws

[Read the article: The rantings of hateful leftists and Arab paranoids]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Thanks Shooter for the "but look at what others did" argument.

    (but, but Clinton...)

    Deflection, denial, projection.

The neurosis is in between your computer and your chair.

  • Go Cindy Sheehan

[Read the article: George Bush's latest powers, courtesy of the Democratic Congress]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I sent a copy of this article to Cindy Sheehan's campaign contact site.

    contact@cindyforcongress.Org

I will post the reply if any.

  • The Nader of the Democratic Party

[Read the article: Obama's support for the FISA "compromise"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

As much of a thorn that he is, we can plainly see what Nader meant by that "not a dime's bit of difference" between the two ensconced parties.

Just oust the Republicans first -- then go after the Democrats.

  • The Timeless H.L. Mencken

[Read the article: Time magazine uncritically prints Nancy Pelosi's "justifications" for the FISA "compromise"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

"Congress consists of one third, more or less, scoundrels; two thirds, more or less, idiots; and three thirds, more or less, poltroons."

  • Impeachment?

[Read the article: Democrats' strategy: Strength through bowing]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

    Piece of cake.

Conviction by the Senate? No chance.

Lack of conviction is the Senatorial norm these days.

  • Excrement?

[Read the article: McCain campaign adopts Bush's respect for free expression]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Don't be so tough on excrement Kitt.

    Excrement does not:

    - Have the ability to reason, and then neurotically refuse to do so.

    - Lie without conscience.

    - Live in a groupthink fantasy world.

    - Act cosmically selfish.

    - Project one's own and group behaviors upon others.

    And so forth...

[Read the article: New heights of stupidity]

    Your lipstick is smearing...

  • Good satire

[Read the article: The people in urgent need of long-term banishment]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Careful guys - some troll may show up and Godwin this thread.

    ...

Do not underestimate the power of the fear generated when belief systems we hold to are challenged.

The Cons are having quite a number of these moments lately.

  • Plot ripoff

    [Read the article: "Blindness"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

This is "The Day of the Triffids" minus the plants. I doubt the author of "Blindness" could come close to John Wyndham's achievement.

  • T.S.

[Read the article: "Great American Hypocrites": The paperback]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

    Stop feeding the T.(roll) Suarez...

  • No Rubinomics

[Read the article: The Goldberg Theorem: Dow skyrockets due to likely Obama victory]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Obama is going to have to drop Robert Rubin from any role in the campaign and his administration.

Never forget that Rubin was one of the *Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse in 1999/2000 for the removal of transparency rules for the derivatives that have devastated our economy.

Get Brooksley Born on the team instead.

    ...

    * w/ Alan Greenspan, Lawrence Summers, and McCain advisor Phil Gramm.

  • Minimize this

[Read the article: Palin family values]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The Repub trolls can keep on minimizing this to their hearts, uhm, well, minds, uhm, -- ok, their soreheads content.

Anyone who is this mindlessly vindictive to someone who was doing his job and trying to ethically protect his boss is an unfit manager and not worthy of public trust.

It's up to Alaska if they want to keep her. But we need not install someone like this into our national government.

  • Something stinks indeed

[Read the article: Patrick Ruffini, the demise of the right and the Democratic alternative]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Time for the party of Lincoln's beard to go drown each other in a bathtub.

  • Here's an idea for Elephantman

[Read the article: Behind the GOP's voter fraud hysteria]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Since Elephantman has admitted to being a "poll watcher", it's possible that he is engaging in voter disenfranchisement at the behest of the Republican Party.

Gee -- if his personal information from his Salon registration ever fell into the hands of Democratic Party lawyers -- which I hope never happens -- , along with some straightforward traffic analysis, his identity might be discovered and subject him to a vigorous investigation.

But that would never happen, and be really wrong.

  • Drowning?

[Read the article: What is happening to GOP electoral tactics?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

May they all continue to drown themselves in their filthy bathtub.

    And give Grover a straw...

  • Elephantman
