not taking it to the street

The main reason that there were more demonstrators during the Vietnam war: there was a draft. Any young man could have been drafted to the military services whether one wished to join or not. Naturally family and young people were against the war - not only for ideological reason. Vietnam war could have touched them directly. Today, the base of demonstration against the Iraq war is ideological. Ideology, as we know, does not move too many people in our times.

the emperor's new peace plan

The main reason that peace (peace PLAN is not the problem - plans are easy to make - achieving them is all together a different issue) will not be achieved because of fanaticizm is strong and growing stronger among the Israelis and the Palestinians alike. Jerusalen should run by international institution because it is important to all religions (more or less). But the Jews claim that God gave Israel and Jerusalem to the Jews - and what ever God (who ever and how ever he is) the Jews must get, even though they have never made a strong attempt to return to their Holly country until it became more comfortable. The Palestinins lived there for hundreds of years...

Let us all face reality!

bush and the anapolis charade as you rightly named it

Olmert, Israel PM said that the peace would be achieved during Bush's presidency. Funny declaration - no? So Bush will get the credit for peace in the middle east. One thing should be remembered: Russia and France had oil contract with Iraq. USA was out. Bush didn't like this exclusion and looked for a "respectable" reason for a war. I don't believe he is a real believer - he might have convinced himself;f by now that indeed he is, he talks about enough to be convincing. He wishes to get into history as a great president who democratized the middle east and achieved peace. Even funnier for a man who has no idea what the middle east is all about.

Joe Biden voice of reason

Joe Biden is one of the few intelligent sincere (with excellent sense of humour) in the senate - may he be a factor in the coming government - it would be better for the USA. He caters to nobody just to the voice of reason, experience, knowledge and common sense.

Keep on taking Joe Biden, maybe somebody would bother to listen to you!

"I think families are off limits."

If one uses one's family in one's campaign as added value in order to be elected, the following statement of Barack Obama:"I've said publicly before, and I'll say it again -- I think families are off limits", IS INVALID: you can't have the cookie and eat it too... Obama exposes his family for his own gain - the family becomes fair play.

words

Politically I am left of center. However, since the "beginning of Barak Obama", his first speech, he has been taking about change: good word! Haven't heard one original thought from him yet! He never address the "how too" on issued like terrorism (or freedom warriors from another perspective?) or any other serious issue, and with his desire to get along with the "other side" he compromises principles. So, when are we going to hear from him details, methods, systems, ways to achieve his very appealing goals?

Joe Beiden!

Joe Beiden is very intelligent, has commonsense, independent thinker, experienced, and to top it all he has sense of humour - I would have liked to see him as president, but the next best thing is a vice president.

Rhe weaker is not always right

It is very fashionable to have China and Russia as the "bad guys" of our world. Reason: the are strong, and becoming stronger.

This article is quite objective - it gives a hint of both sides of the coin by quoting people with out expressing any opinion.

The Georgians took the first step in challenge Russia. South South Ossetia and Abkhazia have been sensitive points for the Russia, having large Russian population, particularly in Abkazia. Immediately as the war started the news reported that the Russian bomb the airport in Tbilisi, well hours after the message was that the Russians bombed only the military airport.Russia has the right to defend her people and even more right to respond to a challenge full force - the best they can. I hope Russia wins this case. I hope no country/institution intervenes. Lets not have another Kosovo where the USA supported the Albanian forgetting what the Albanians did to the Slavs when they (Albanians)ruled the place. The Slavs were supported by the Russian so the west supported the Albanians. What a game! The media help create the sensation, quoting rumors of rape, murder, etc including imaginative numbers. The weaker is not always right!

CLICHES! CLICHES! and more CLICHES!

I have read the credits of the writer of this article.... Not one independent idea, all from the magazine titled: USA - GOOD RUSSIA - BAD. How sad!

Indeed , do look into the history since 1992.

Again, Russia is the bad Guy, and the USA which never declare wars on anybody (?) - except for Granada naturally - should tell Russia to stop. Georgia is in Russia's backyard. Abkhazia is full of Russian nationals, South Ossetia is not here and not there, the Georgian enter South Ossetia with their armies - and Russia should just ignore it? Texas, new Mexico (parts of) used to be a part of Mexico, the Mexicans walk into Texas and New Mexico with their armies, and the USA will not make a move? Well, yes, it is a far fetched possibility, and a bit more than 16 years ago - but not that much more in the greater scheme of things....

A reminder: Putin is for Russia - anything strange about it?

As I have said earlier: the weak is not always right!
