  • Molly on Hillary

[Read the article: Molly Ivins on how lame Hillary Clinton is]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Molly Ivins just nails it with her take on why she won't support Hillary Clinton for president. I've watched Hillary dodge and weave and told myself that I just won't be satisfied with the best of the worst of choices.

If the Democratic Party nominates Hillary Clinton I simply will sit out the presidential election, as painful as that might be. Molly is right, we need, and deserve better.

  • Fooled again

[Read the article: Will Bush and Gonzales get away with it?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

While I am appalled by the behavior of Bush and Gonzales and admire this man's devotion to the safety and treatment of military prisoners, it saddens me that he supported the Swiftboaters.

Where was his devotion to truth and respect for service in 2004?

He supported Bush (who made Oklahoma safe from a Texas invasion) yet belittled the war service of John Kerry? And now, now after all the lies he feels betrayed?

Sorry, but while his cause is good (though hopeless) I can't feel much for this "staunch Republican" except pity he got "fooled again."

  • "Fracture" is broken glass

    [Read the article: "Fracture"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

How in tarnation can Stephanie Zacharek, who is usually so good at exposing the "Brando Rip Offs" of lesser, albeit worshipful actors, have fallen under the spell of Ryan Gosling's tic-laden, phoned-in performance in Fracture?

Whoa! Saying he "runs rings around Anthony Hopkins" in this less than satisfying movie is the height of overstatement. Someone's in love! And her name is Stephanie!

Hopkins turned in his Hannibal redux for a good paycheck, no doubt, and who can fault him for that? I can, for one. But Gosling looked for all the world like a drama student at a first reading. There simply was no tension between them, and although Hopkins was seething so much the temperature in the theatre zoomed, Gosling threw water all over himself.

If he wiped his face one more time I might have screamed. This movie will disappear and I say, Good Riddance!

  • Ease up, folks

[Read the article: Fondling Stephen Colbert]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Really, now. Jane Fonda is an actress. Stephen Colbert is a parodist. Why are all you people looking for meaning in this stuff? Fonda took control of the situation by closing in on Colbert's "comfort zone" and you all react as if she was in your face!

Sheesh. I wish, no, I dream Jane Fonda could be that close to me! She's sooo hot! And smart! She's sooo smart! And she can act up a tempest in a teapot, as you all prove.

  • What the FISA debacle means to (now) hopeless Democrats

[Read the article: More on the FISA debacle]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Here in Palm Beach County, or Butterfly ballot-land we aren't so shocked, shocked to see the Democrats fold yet again to the fearbashing Bushies on FISA. First, they told us we didn't know how to cast a vote and it's been downhill from there on in. This hold on power and the gall to use it for gain and greed isn't limited to Bushies however.

This registered Dem. is now switching party affiliation. That's the only way I can see to show the Dems how utterly disgusted I am with their cowardice over everything, starting with the Patriot Act, the never-to-end-war in Iraq, the Military Commissions Act, comprehensive voting machine fixes, etc.

When the Presidential primary takes place, I'll be on the sidelines. Then, they can chase me as an Independant. I don't want to be a Democrat any longer. Barack Obama or John Edwards can woo my support for sure, but I wouldn't think of ever voting for Hillary, I mean, what's the point? She's no different and I don't trust her as far as I can fling a piano (and that ain't far). Dodd makes good sounds, but face it, he can't go all the way. And life is too short not to take umbrage about cowtowing to lobbyists and other forces of evil. If I send a campaign contribution (and I already have) I'll do it anonymously.

To the Dems my message is: Yo te lavabo. I wash my hands of you. Bah!

  • I Stand by Dan

[Read the article: Dan Rather stands by his story]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Thank God for Dan Rather and Mary Mapes. Finally, someone has shown the cohones to simply tell the truth. Our corporately-owned media are co-conspirators in the lies and cover-ups of the Bush administration. There is blood on their hands. If they had a conscience they would fess up (I won't hold my breath).

CBS should lose its FCC license. They no longer fulfill the requirement of providing news and information to the American public, so their use of OUR airwaves must be suspended. (I won't hold my breath on that one either.)

I hope this lawsuit brings vindication to Rather and every journalist and researcher that painstakingly sought out the facts of Bush' so-called military service. That drunken fool is the president of the United States. I can't help thinking that if the truth never comes out, our country will be forever lost.

I weep for my nation's pride, integrity and spirit -and long for it to be restored.

  • No Second Hand Rose

[Read the article: Clinton's answer to Oprah?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

If you folks don't think Barbra will draw a huge crowd if she campaigns for Hillary than just wait and see, wait and see. I like Oprah, but I love Streisand. And as for her turning off white guys, well, most of them would never have voted for Hillary anyway. Streisand would only be a negative if she fails to note her true background. After all, she wasn't born with a silver spoon in her mouth. She worked hard and stuck to her talent, kept her nose and her principles.

Maybe living by those values is really all BS to most Americans. We'll have to see about that, too.

My problem is that I just don't believe Hillary has any values apart from wanting power, and that frightens me. She can't pick a position and stick to it. So I'm wondering what Barbra sees that I don't?
