Good Points/some disagreement
[Read the article: The Persian game]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Mr. Molavi scores a few points with this one. However, it has been and always will be the goal of the Iranian Mullahs to spread their brand of theocratic Shia Islam to the entire Middle East, what Mao called a permanent revolution. A major reason they have not been successful is the Iran/Iraq war of the 1980’s, which set back Iranian adventurism by a decade or more.
Hezbollah is to Iran what Cuba and Vietnam and Egypt were to the old Sov Union, client states they can use to further their imperial ambitions, while maintaining plausible deniability. And yes it is true that the last thing Iran wants is a war with Israel, because they will loose: http://www.globalsecurity.org/org/news/2006/060501-iran-military.htm
That said, religious favor often conflicts with secular reality. Iran is still dancing on the head of a pin, and praying to Allah that they do not fall off.

We warned you
[Read the article: Happy 14th Amendment Day!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Unfortunately it appears too many think we regular folk who oppose open immigration and "full rights" for illegals are a collection of "anti-immigration" zealots"...
Well yes, that is exactly what you are. Also dupes, fools and suckers.
We of the smart set warned you “regular folk” exactly what would happen if the cheap labor conservatives took power with the promise of a Corporate Tax cut it every pot and a Wal-Mart in every hamlet. Did you not listen to us? Hell No! To busy worrying about Gay Marriage Terrorist stealing your guns, instead of the Crony Capitalist stealing your jobs and sending them overseas.
So my Republican Brothers do exactly what they promise, demolish the New deal, bust up the Unions and turn this Country back 120 years to the age of the Robber Barons. And who do you blame. Those dirty immigrants.
If you seriously believe that rousting innocent people will some how cure all your troubles, your delusional, and you deserve to be unemployed.
And for all the Neo-Con Artist who insist the Constitution means exactly what it says and is not open to interpretation (Original Intent), your attempts to redefine the 14th Amendment only serve to point out your brazen hypocrisy.

Addendum to previous post- Nuff said
[Read the article: Happy 14th Amendment Day!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Should I hate a People for the shade of their skin?
Or the shape of their eyes or the shape I’m in;
Should I hate them for having our jobs today?
No I hate the men sent the jobs away.

Snowflake" babies were white? I'm shocked
[Read the article: It's murder, yes, but we've got to strike a balance]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Eb, I'm shocked. Those "Snowflake" babies standing behind Bush at the Dog and Pony show were a regular rainbow coalition. White, off-white, ivory, french vanilla.
And judging by the efforts of Southern Republican Senators to gut the language prior to renewing the civil rights act, I know exactly how Bush's base would react if 400,000 black "snowflakes" were standing behind Bush.

Enemies list
[Read the article: One nation under law -- not Bush]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]What no main stream journalist, left right or center, has the courage to state is that President Bush most likely used all these extra judicial powers to spy on his enemies, real or imagined (remember Nixon’s Enemies list).
Any group of Crazies that would out a CIA Agent for political gain is capable of anything. It is only an accusation, but it is most likely correct.
Until the American people decide to reject the Rubber Stamp Republican Congress, and replace them with a legislature that will actually exercise oversight, King George III will continue to shred the Constitution every chance he gets. G-d Bless America

R's are running scared
[Read the article: Democrats: Hope for the House, and good news on the Senate]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The AP article "House Slates Vote on Raising Minimum Wage", shows just how scared the R's are about the upcoming elections, at least in the house. The cheap labor conservatives loath the minimum wage as much as they hate Unions and Social Security. To even consider a vote is amazing.
Clearly they wish to disarm any political weapons the D's may have (they passed renewal of the Voting Rights Act fast enough, and at least tried to pass Stem Cell research), while their own weapons (G-d, Gun's and Gays) do not seem as lethal as they where in '04. Couple this with the Iraq FUBAR and the general feeling of economic malaise, and their lies the Republicans problem.
The good news for the R's is they still own the whore media. The news stenographers will faithfully reproduce RNC talking points, while savaging Democrats (no matter what the D's do or say) as in disarray, not have a plan, not stand for anything, blah, blab, blah, bullsh-t.. And the other good news is Diebold and the voting machines from hell.
