@rebecalouise

Right on.

Glenn dismisses the "circular firing squad" and say it's not germane here, but he's wrong. This little hissy-fit squad who thinks all of America is going to go along with the agenda of the 15-20% of the Democratic party are smoking crack. This is exactly what the CFS looks and sounds like.

Yeah, it's emotionally satisfying, and everyone gets to point out how pure and holy and smart they are. And then go back to licking their wounds, criticizing the party, wondering why Democrats can't win the WH, and saying that next time they'll vote for Kucinich. or Ron Paul. Or Ralph Nader, or some other doofus who doesn't stand a cat's chance in hell of ever being elected president. But they'll feel good about their futile meaningless votes because boy they sure showed someone something.

Face it, the vast majority of your fellow citizens are incapable of holding up their end of democracy. And Obama isn't interested in these petty name-calling squabbles over what is obviously very divided territory in this country.

Progress is evolution much more so than revolution. Right now, we need to get back in, govern, show America that the "Left" is not about marxist appeasers, and then move forward. This is what Obama is trying to do, and he's not beholden to anyone. He actually has guts, as what he's doing and saying shows. You can be part of the solution or part of the problem.

@Glenn Greenwald

"Every voter now has a decision to make. Either you get behind Barack Obama, the Most Transformative and Greatest Man Ever -- click your heels, salute and praise him -- or you are a Far Leftist Radical, the kind of believes in search warrants and the rule of law and all sorts of radical, divisive terrorist crap like that."

********

Oooh, golly. I got your attention.

That's a cute extrapolation. Absurd, but cute. That's what I mean about hysterical.

Original article: Why I hate summer

What a bunch of wet blankets

I thought it was hilarious.

Huh

Weighing the majority of the comments Traister gathered, two things are apparent:

1. Americans really are idiots

2. We did indeed deserve eight years of W.

This is just stupid

This is why all those drumming hippies get on my nerves: Drumming is really annoying.

@cabdriver

This is really the point, I think. Nowhere is it written that events have to align themselves to our elections.

We're up to our asses in two wars and facing down a global depression and financial meltdown. By all accounts, al Qaeda has certainly regrouped. Changes in administrations are big windows of vulnerability, as everyone will recall.

Obama has no choice but to get things done. Many big things. At the same time. Fundamental, crucial shit.

The people he needs are insiders. People everyone knows, people everyone can work with, people who can get shit done. They won't all pass ideological muster on the left. But guys like Gates are if, nothing else, 'good soldiers'. If they can't follow new orders and rules, I believe they'd resign. They don't have to stay.

I understand both the objections and their counterarguments. It's not a cause for outrage, I don't think.

Some continuity at Defense and Intelligence could be warranted by so many factors that it seems almost silly to be surprised by it.

somebody please shoot me.

Fucking grow up already. No different than the Right, in the end. This is why our country is fucked.

There is no god. It's all a fucking myth. Who cares which little moron builds a career worshiping a fictitious God? Who cares which of these charlatans delivers the invocation?

It's all fucking make-believe superstition.

Grow up.

Thursday, December 18, 2008 04:06 PM

Oh, and then...

there are always the fucking deluded morons who start saying, "Kucinich...Nader," in response to anything.

Yeah. Like either of those idiots is ever going to get elected.

Jesus. What stupid world do you people live in? Anyone who writes this is basically just writing, "Hello. I'm an idiot. I live in a make-believe world. And if I just sit in a corner, close my eyes, rock back and forth, hold my breath, and imagine certain magical things happening...They will!!!!! You watch!!!!!"

Christ. It really is remarkable. And sorry to the rest of you, but I was just scrolling through the letters, saw the inevitable Nader/Kucinich drivel and lost it.

And then the gay thing

Look. In the end, I could really give a shit between "civil union" and "marriage".

If this is what's pissing people off about Warren...Please. You think this is the biggest thing facing our nation? Is it in the top 10?

No. And no.

Stop pissing in the wind. The majority of our fellow citizens are fine with civil unions. The symbolism attached to "marriage" makes it an entirely different kettle of fish.

Please. Just take the equivalent, and move on. Take "yes" for an answer. For once.
