Long time reader, first time caller.
I enjoy reading your daily, but I despise baseball. Thoughts from childhood rush back to my mind of mid-October World Series earthquakes signaling the end of the season.
It is absolutley silly to play baseball anywhere in 80% of the continental US past the second week of October, until global warming sets in a little bit more. How many baseball players are we willing to sacrifice to frostbite, and how many baseball fans are we willing to tease with bad programming and rain (or snow) delays?
And while we're at it, move the Super Bowl back to the end of January, and end the NBA playoffs to the first week of May.
The part of the letter that scares me is that the daughter is paying payments on a variable-rate interest only loan. Not only is the daugher paying more each year for this loan, but the mother is getting less in equity, and less to pass on to her children and church in her will.
It could be argued that by paying a 10% tithing now, and going into debt doing it, equates to the mother not being able to will anything to the church when she passes.
The daughter should also realize, that by paying the mortgage, she is also generating future income for her mother should the mother choose to get a reverse mortgage as a source of income. So not only would the mother be using the equivalent sum of mortgage money to tithe now, but she would be using the actual equity that the daughter purchased to tithe later.
In conclusion, the mother should get credit counseling, and also seek counseling from the church on non-monetary tithing. The daughter should can still help with the mortgage by paying of principal parts of the mortgage for her mother. This will force the mother to still make the interest payment portion, but assure that the mother is building equity in the home, living within her means, and using her new skills acquired from credit counseling.
I'm not a man, but if I were, and circumsized, I would be infuriated that I couldn't make the decision for myself.
As a woman, I was unable to even get my ears pierced until I was sixteen, and then it was my decision.
Children aren't allowed to get tattoos in most states until they are 18. Even in Oregon, no one under 18 can get a tattoo. A parent's consent does not factor into the law. In the case of circumcision, the parents' decision should apply even less, especially since the procedure is irreversible.
I believe it should be the child's decision to make when he is an appropriate age. This should not be a decision for the parents, and even less a decision for overbearing grandparents.
Gen X killed the corporate pawn.
The rock star still lives and breathes among us. The internet and the DIY attitude of this decade is cutting off the middle men and shareholders. Sure, this may mean less exposure, less profits, but it does mean the rock star gets more control in the situation.
Who else is going to keep me abreast of when the Daily Show is in reruns?
Come back, dear fix!
It is a national ad buy. I'm seeing them in Nebraska and Iowa, too. Iowa's over.
My aunt hand-drew all of the pictographs, and asked me what it said. "I Love Girl Tree Music," I asked.
"Oh, I forgot to tell you that the girl is Hillary Clinton."
"I Love Hillary Clinton Tree Music?"
They had to add the words to the shirt for people like me. What I didn't get the most about my aunt is that she is an avid democrat and didn't get married until she was 42, and probably a "country music" lover herself. She thought it was hilarious. I still don't get it.
Did they really need that many paragraphs to make the case? I've seen better written blogs by Clinton supporters that make the same case more succinctly, and I don't quickly scroll to the end stopping when I see "John Kerry" name dropped. The people running the Clinton campaign are so stuck in 2004 it isn't even funny.
What group of 80-year-olds did he have standing behind him today when he said this?
If I want to read what Mark Halperin has made up, I'll go read drudgereport.com. No other major media outlet has anything on this besides ABC News. People should get more direct sources before reporting anymore on this and becoming an echo chamber for Mark Halperin.
I was a big Gilmore Girls fan, and I really did enjoy the first episode. I enjoy Amy Sherman-Pallidino's writing, pace, and layers of material. The show was funny and smart, and could probably use a little bit more Lauren Ambrose. Fox puts things on Friday night that they want to kill, which means most people with a TIVO won't even know it is there. I don't watch many 1/2 hour shows anymore, besides The Office, but this is definitely one I will keep watching.
