  • she did not get what she deserved

[Read the article: Ann Coulter gets what she deserves]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

what she deserves is to spew her hate and insanity in the same venue that other like minded nut jobs spew theirs. on a street corner in the city of industry. this woman has nothing worthwhile to add to political debates and the fact that she still gets air time just proves that these talking head shows have the lofty aim of being just as informative as jerry springer and inside edition.

  • I am excited

I read your post and thought it was great so I decided to make two loans - to a Cambodian pig farmer and a Tajiki shoe salesman. I hope they have great success.

  • Why would Tim Russert want talk about Global Warming?

[Read the article: TV news is too cool]

Wouldn't he get himself canned by his parent company GE? I cannot imaging that they want to take any responsibility in their role in greenhouse emissions since to do so would cut into their bottom line.

  • Gosh she is awful

[Read the article: Did Hillary Clinton really win in Florida?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

This is further proof that Clinton is just going to be another dishonest hack if she becomes President. If she cannot follow the rules now how can we expect her to be honest about the reasons she sends our troops to Iran, or the wire taps she is going to place on American citizens, or whatever continuation of Bush's policies she is going to institute so she can prove to America that she can do the job.

  • Prop Joe's obituary

[Read the article: Hot off "The Wire"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

One of the most striking moments to me was how little recognition Prop Joe got at the newspaper. If Twig had not been fired that story would have been more than just a buried paragraph in the back of the paper. It seemed insignificant, but it was a crucial statement of the other on major theme of the season, institutional knowledge/history being overshadowed by

    profiteers.

  • just great

[Read the article: Clinton wins California, Arizona]

just what america needs is a guarantee of four more years of war in iraq and seal of approval on war with iran. and lord knows the bombs that will fall if mccain beats clinton. can we at least, as an american people, make a vote for peace and not vote for another bomb throwing clinton?

  • What would I do if I had 600 dollars?

[Read the article: What will YOU do with your fiscal stimulus check?]

I will either buy silver coins or put it in my money market account. I may splurge on a 7" record or two from Great Britain though.

  • my visit to westport on saturday

[Read the article: Hot off "The Wire"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

i did campaigning for a certain candidate that got his name mentioned in this and wound up knocking on doors in westport. the neighborhood had its share of boarded up rowhomes (a few were completely burned out). there was a memorial to someone that was shot with flowers and stuffed animals. some people even had signs on their doors asking people not to stash drugs under their porches. depressing.

but then i got to knock on a few doors and talk to people. mostly little old ladies. i couldn't help but think of that woman that got stuck in hamstermdam and didn't want to leave. the first person i talked to was an ex convict that was excited to vote for the first time. i shook his hand and thought of cuddy. though these characters are fictionalized, they are certainly taken from a reality that at most people might drive through with their windows rolled up.

i probably only wrote this because the episode started in westport (which by the way is this isolated neighborhood that is pretty much cut off by several interstates), but i defintely feel that watching this program has made me more intune with the reality in the city that i live.

  • I used to own a bar

[Read the article: Hot off "The Wire"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I am pretty sure Belzer was playing Munch since he made a reference to owning a bar - a bar that he and Meldrick Lewis (and Bayliss) owned. Of course Meldrick has since changed his name to Gus Haynes and got a job at the city editor's desk, but hey.

  • Oh come on

[Read the article: Hot off "The Wire"]

Why is everyone so incredulous about the courtroom scene? There is no doubt that Davis has dirt on Bond (or at least anyone that Bond would need to help him out in a mayoral run) [Davis had mentioned to Nerese that he has dirt on pretty much everyone in town]. There is a reason why Bond wanted to be on that case, and it certainly has to do with his desire to be mayor, but not because he wanted to put Davis away. He wanted to throw that case in a fashion to defuse the potential timebomb that Clay Davis could become if he went down and then decided not to "stand tall," as former Mayor Royce put it.

  • Why Colvin was irked by Carcetti

[Read the article: Hot off "The Wire"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Back in the 'amsterdam season Carcetti went down to visit Colvin's experiment first hand. He told Bunny that he had his back because he was impressed with how he turned around the rest of West Baltimore. Within an episode, rather than getting Bunny's back, he used 'amsterdam as an attacking point against Royce, which, in turn, did in Bunny. I think he would have knocked him on his ass had it been in a dark alley somewhere :-)

    ----

On a side note, when everyone was complaining about Bond throwing the Davis case. Now Davis is saying that "hangs around the grand jury" has been giving them to Levy. And you wonder why Bond threw that case?
