Christopher Hitchens is a small-penised idiot.
[Read the article: Women ARE funny. And foxy!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Only a small-penised idiot would conclude that a smart rebuttal to his disgusting, hate-rant means that the author of said rebuttal wants him SO BAD that she needed to write a piece just to get on his radar. Good on VF for publishing both their photos in his counter-counterpoint; goes to show how absurd he's being, what with her being far, FAR beyond his league. At this point, it's simple arrogance that's keeping Hitchens from conceding defeat; he's never been able to admit that he might maybe possibly be wrong in the past, so why should he start now?
Call me when he's back to hating on God; at least that's sort of interesting.

Serotonin
[Read the article: Why girls cut themselves]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Every girl I knew in high school who cut herself immediately stopped cutting when she discovered MDMA (ecstasy). MDMA blocks the reuptake of 5-HT (serotonin), similarly to SSRI (serotonin specific reuptake inhibiting) anti-depressants such as fluoxetine (Prozac), sertraline, and paroxetine.
Just a thought I had as I was reading.

Details?
[Read the article: Anthony Minghella, 1954-2008]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]According to IMDB, Variety is reporting that he had a brain hemorrhage during a routine neck operation:

So unfortunate - I wonder what he might have done with more time.

My kingdom for a copyeditor!
[Read the article: "Run Fatboy Run"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Of the many errors in this post, this one stood out:
"But it deserves credit for not working us over the way so many modern comedies too."
Someone's relying too much on spellcheck...

Spit-take.
[Read the article: Abstinence only strikes again]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"Did you know that the only defense women have against rape is being afraid of pregnancy?"
There is now water all over my keyboard. And in my nose.
Hilarious.

Thanks, Glenn.
[Read the article: Various items]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Thank you for the link to the Cole/Yoo lecture webpage; I'm now registered to attend and am excited and terrified by the prospect.
Now, if only we could get our own Mr. Greenwald to grace us here in the West with his book-tourin' presence... If you come before my pre-ordered book does, I'll totally buy another copy. Deal?

So, what, you expected them to make 'Dummy' again?
[Read the article: Did Portishead kill trip hop?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]This whole article is a waste of time and space.
If you want Dummy, go listen to Dummy.

Other subversive gown
[Read the article: Does that Vera Wang come in two-ply?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]This book has a wedding dress made of 10 extra-large men's white tees. It's actually a very attractive DIY dress (you can use the scraps to make a "bouquet" as well - they give directions). You could probably do the bridesmaids' dresses in colored tees and call it a wedding...

I'm sorry if this has already been said, but there were too many comments to go through.
[Read the article: My boyfriend has an abysmal environmental conscience]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]FYI to Himself:
You can very easily use a sharp knife to slice through the casings on copper wires rather than burning the plastic and releasing dangerous, concentrated carcinogens into the air. (I mean, seriously, is he wearing a respirator as he processes the copper?) I've spent a fair chunk of time doing just this, and it's actually much easier than setting anything on fire. The fact that Himself feels the need to process copper wire in this way is totally indicative of the fact that not only does he not feel compelled to be environmentally responsible, but he's also throwing up one giant middle finger at you and anyone else who tries to offset their carbon footprint by doing good. He must be possessed of the knowledge that what he's doing is not only harmful but useless, and he continues to do it. It's disrespectful and speaks to a deeper problem in his psyche, which Cary pointed out vaguely in the last bit of his response.
Cognitive dissonance alert: Did he ever notice that one resells copper to RECYCLING plants? If it's so useless, why are people paying him to recycle?

Thanks, Glenn.
[Read the article: Finding Obama guilty of insufficient devotion to Israel]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Reading your blog is like going for a root canal: painful, but necessary. Though your prose makes the content of what you're saying slightly more palatable, it's still hard to force oneself to read the daily compendium of abuses of power raging on in our government.
A question: What happened to the analysis of ABC you promised us in your CNN post? I was so looking forward to another evisceration.
Thanks again.

Ugh, indeed.
[Read the article: "Ugh" of the day]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]However, the phrase "offering the onomatopoeia of my outrage" is pretty wicked.
