"When Ron Paul goes to an interview and suddenly he's in a bedroom being seduced"

Ok, that settles it, I'm seeing Bruno this weekend! Too bad it wasn't Jim Inhofe that Bruno tried to seduce.

I loved Borat, really funny stuff. Bruno was always the weakest character on SBC's show, but this sounds really funny.

Anti Muslim?

The poster awhile back that said reviewers didn't notice that the Borat was anti Muslim, Borat wasn't a Muslim character. He was a made up religion that worships the hawk.

The old rodeo guy made some anti Muslim comments, as well as anti gay comments. The movie was making fun of those types of prejudices.

Was the movie mean? All those people signed the waivers to appear on screen, so I can't feel too sorry for them if they go on to say such vile things. It's not like there's a hidden camera, they know they're being filmed. Even if they didn't know it was going to be a movie, I'm sure they were aware of an invention known as the internet, and what they say will be viewed by millions.

I didn't find Borat to be mean, but some of the people that had no problem voicing their prejudices to a camera sure seemed mean. Like the old guy that wanted gay people to be hung from lamp posts.

@tiger

Around the time Borat came out, SBC was interviewed on NPR by Terri Gross. He said that the studio hack that said he was an "observant jew" was incorrect (lying). He is Jewish, but he's not practicing.

I'm starting to like this Johnston kid.

If Palin runs in 2012, maybe one of the news channels can hire him to do commentary.

Pushing 40

I suppose it's good news that they couldn't find a racist in their mid 20's to early 30's to be the leader of the young republicans. Still, it seems like there should be an age cut off or something. It just seems weird to have a 38 year old as the leader of a youth organization. I also wonder if in addition to being a racist, if she fibbed about her age. In that Facebook picture, she looks well into her 40's.

I can't really act surprised about this, these are the people that brought monkey dolls to campaign events with Obama name tags on them! I'm just glad that the public saw them for what they are, at least the last election cycle.

Original article: Who you calling a "midget"?

I don't think even all little people agree that midget is offensive

I remember sometime in the late 80's or early 90's, Billy Barty was upset at Herve Villechaize because he publicly said he preferred the term midget.

But it's not really an issue for me, the ones that I've worked around I just called by their names. If they prefer one term over the other, I'll use whichever one they like, even if it's "person of small stature."

I'm a bit disappointed in the plan myself

Now is not the time for half measures. Sure, I'll take the watered down public option if it's all we can get. But I don't believe that, if there was ever a time, and a president that could deliver a single payer healthcare system, it's this time and this president.

Big business should be begging to get healthcare costs off their balance sheets. If Obama would get big business on board, the republicans would have no choice but to fall in line.

Republicans can't argue seriously about cost after the last 8 years. If you can find a bottomless pit of money to kill and maim Iraqis and U.S. servicemen, then they can come up with the money to provide healthcare for the citizens they claim to represent.

I guarantee you that the next time we have another cowboy hat wearing dipshit republican president (hopefully many, many, many years from now), they suddenly won't care about deficits when he wants to invade some third world country before they destroy the U.S. with their imaginary drone planes.

Dixie Chicks

I don't think it's disingenuous to say they had the last laugh. You have to remember how the right wing went after them. I remember right wingers crowing that they would never have a hit album again, and they would break up within a year or two.

Even with country radio stations refusing to play their music or promote their concerts, they still produced an album that went double platinum and won an armload of grammys. The video for Not Ready To Make Nice was the number one video on VH1 almost that whole summer.

I don't doubt that they lost some of the idiot red necks, but in the age of the Ipod, almost all album sales are down, so there's various factors that go into that.

The bottom line is that the right wing noise machine tried to ruin them, and they failed. The Chicks still had a critically acclaimed, award winning, double platinum album. They remained very successful while staying true to their beliefs. I would say that's having the last laugh.

Maybe they did a lot of polling in Oklahoma

I've heard a lot of people here say that, a girl that I dated last year believed it too. Of course, she also thought he was the antichrist. In fact, I was at the gym last night and heard a group of guys discussing it in the sauna. They all believed it.

Unfortunately, I don't really have any trouble believing that the poll is accurate.
