It can't be exactly like the 90s

I can't bring myself to watch anything Glenn Beck is associated with. He's just such an ignorant know nothing, but thinks he's brilliant, yet also talentless as a broadcaster. I despise Hannity and Limbaugh, but I will admit they have a certain amount of broadcasting talent. Beck doesn't even have that, he's just an annoying dumb guy. I imagine this is what dubya would have been if he had decided to use his family name to become a tv pundit rather than for politics.

But thanks for recapping it for me, I don't think these yahoos will be able to relive their 90s glory days. Back then, thanks to Clinton, most of them had good jobs, and plenty of money to waste on their goofy fantasies. They could afford to go to the Army/Navy store and blow their money on military gear they didn't really need, and go away for the weekend, march around, drink beer, and talk about how much they hate Hillary.

This time around, thanks to Bush, they're either unemployed, or terrified that they soon will be. Their wives won't let them indulge in their soldier fantasies this time. Of course, they'll still rail against Obama, and rant about the coming revolution. But it will be mostly from their homes, talking tough and crazy on message boards, in their cammo PJ's.

It would be nice to have more than one party to choose from

But the republicans are not even an option for me as long as the religious right is part of their base. A party that takes Sarah Palin seriously as a potential president isn't a party that I can take seriously.

Original article: Senate approves stimulus

"John Voinovich is not running in 2010. Wouldn't the Republican leadership let him cast a sympathy vote? Are they eager to appear that unyielding? I don't get it."

This is the Republican leadership we're talking about, they were hoping his plane would crash.

Kind of a shaky plan

I mean, if you were going with this plan, would you really decide on making the candidate black, especially back in the early 90s? Seems like too much of a roll of the dice for all the time and money invested in it. I think you would want a southern white guy for this job.

Of course, Bob Dornan used to imply that that Clinton was a Soviet mole, so maybe they had a camp full of these president moles. Why, I would venture to guess that most of the democrats(and a republican or two, Romney is an obvious suspect) running last time were in fact Soviet moles in waiting.

It's so refreshing

We're in tough times, but at least we have a president that is on the case now. I feel like we have someone that at least isn't plotting against us in the oval office. When asked about people that can't afford health insurance, Bush responded that they can go to the emergency room! I almost don't know how to process having a president that, whether you agree with his specific proposals or not, actually seems to care about the American people, and wants to do right by them.

I didn't support him during the primaries, and he's not perfect by a long shot, but he's a breath of fresh air. After 8 long years of that horrible, petty thug in the white house, we at least have an ally instead of a tormenter. He's got a mess of almost biblical proportions to clean up, good luck Mr. President.

onthebeat

The coed basic training started before Clinton was president, my girlfriend, at the time, went through the first coed Navy bootcamp in late '91, or very early '92. It was right before I transferred overseas, which was in May of '92. I think the stress cards might have already been introduced as well, not sure though, but I know they weren't making recruits run in boots anymore by that point.

So making boot camp easier started well before Clinton, and really, I doubt any of it had much to do with who was president at the time, as it did being able to recruit people. Boot camp, as presented in Full Metal Jacket was a pretty hard sell. I went in in '88, and even by then, it was nothing like what my older family members remembered, so it's been a very long, ongoing process.

Inhofe is a bad joke

He's such an embarrassment to Oklahoma, polls showed that if Drew Edmondson (a popular democratic attorney general here) ran, that he could have beaten Inhofe. He decided not to run because he's considering a run for governor in 2010, so Inhofe slipped in again. I wish Edmondson had run, it would even be worth having a republican governor to have gotten rid of that moron.

Inhofe is like every stereotype of evil and willfully ignorant republicans come to life.

Nah

They just say that because they know that Sarah Palin drives democrats nuts. I'm sure they know as well as we do that during a primary campaign, her republican opponents would peel her open like a soft shell peanut. There will be many debates, and she won't be able to refuse to answer the questions like she did in the one with Biden.

Of course, maybe I'm wrong, and they really are that out of touch.

Lost is fantastic!

Now that The Wire is no longer on, Lost is the best written and acted show on television, hands down. It clear from the beginning that this was a sci-fi show, time travel isn't even the strangest thing that has been introduced on this show. Just go with it, and enjoy the ride, it will probably be a long time before we get something this well done on television again. If you just want to watch people lay around the beach, and bitch at each other, the new season of Survivor will be starting soon.

Also, BSG is a great show, the the season premiere was very good, and like others have said, the latest episode is one of the best of the series.
