  • Some good points Mav

[Read the article: Al Gore, anyone?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

But you did get a couple of things wrong, Gore didn't run for president in 1992, Clinton picked him for veep off the strength of his 88 run, which Gore actually did pretty well in for someone that was so young, and wasn't very well known at the time.

Also, while there are people that run several times that become a joke, (Jerry Brown, Lamar Alexander)there are others that go on to win, (Ronald Reagan, Richard Nixon).

I agree that Gore was an overly cautious politician in 2000, and blew the debates, at least as far as the likeability factor goes (all that sighing and weird orange makeup), but even with all the things he got wrong, he still won the popular vote, and I think, probably the electoral college as well, but Bush's daddy just had too many friends on the supreme court.

For now I'm supporting John Edwards, but if Gore announced, I would have to at least think about switching, hell, I'd like to see Gore win just for the image of him being sworn in with Bush standing behind him with that odd grimace of his.

  • Does Limbaugh insult kids?

[Read the article: Is Rush Limbaugh next?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I haven't paid any attention to him for a long time, but he has in the past. The infamous segment on his tv show where he showed a picture of, a then 12 year old, Chelsea Clinton, and called her the white house dog.

His excuse was just as offensive, he claimed an engineer put up the wrong picture, but at the time, the Clintons didn't have a dog, so what picture was supposed to be put up? And of course, the show wasn't live, it was taped, so if it was a mistake, why wouldn't he fix it before it aired?

At that time, I was pretty apolitical, and I thought Rush's show was funny, and I didn't take him seriously, but after that, I knew what kind of mean spirited piece of crap he really was. It was this kind of mean spirited, hate filled, behavior that convinced me to become a democrat. Not that they're any great shakes, but the alternative is a party represented by some of the most unpleasant people imaginable.

  • Frank

[Read the article: I Like to Watch]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Frank actually said, "there's nothing funnier than smelly bums." And he seemed to be serious too, but in fairness to the execs watching the finished product, the guy in the hospital bed that was supposed to smell bad, didn't actually look like a bum (dirty, unshaven, etc.). So maybe they just thought it was somebody that broke wind, or something.

  • Coldstone

[Read the article: What happened to plain old vanilla?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

It's good stuff, I usually get the coffee ice cream with sprinkles mixed in. I've never heard them sing at mine, so I don't know what's up with that, but the ice cream is top notch. It doesn't seem particularly expensive to me either, I would agree that Haagen Daaz is better, but it's much more expensive. If you want bland paste, Dairy Queen is the place to go, if you can find one.

  • Braums

[Read the article: What happened to plain old vanilla?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Hey, I live in Oklahoma too, it's a local favorite, and it's not bad for the price, but Coldstone is much tastier, and the portions are larger, so it all evens out.

Now Sonic's Sonic Blast's are really good, but there's the dreaded "mix ins" that the author is so terrified of, so he might not like it.

Like a lot of people on here, my parents used to make homade ice cream when I was a kid, and I have very fond memories of it, but who knows if it would live up to the memory if I had it now. Sort of like watching a television show you loved as a child, and realizing it really wasn't all that good.

  • Support the troops

[Read the article: Edwards' insensitive move]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Actually, supporting the troops shouldn't even be something you have to say, it's pretty much a given. I have a friend at work that was a Bush voter, she hates him now, better late than never, I guess. But she said she was against the war, but supported the troops, I told her she didn't need to qualify that, it's like saying you're against cancer, or your for rainbows, of course you support the troops. Of course, the republicans had no problem understanding this concept when Clinton was president, now they pretend that such a thing is impossible.

  • Grindhouse

[Read the article: Beyond the Multiplex]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Grindhouse is a term for run down theatres from the 70s that showed B action flicks, and often ran double features of these kind of movies. The kind of place Tarantino and Rodriguez spent a lot of their free time as a child, so it the title was an homage to their youth.

The movie Grindhouse was two movies made in the style of cheesy 70s action/horror movies. I think a lot of people didn't get the concept, and it didn't help that it opened on Easter weekend, counter programing works sometimes, but obviously didn't this time out.

I loved the whole experience, especially the fake movie trailers they showed before and in between.

  • The mommy party?

[Read the article: Fred Thompson, "tough guy" and "folksy cultural conservative"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I find this really strange, the republicans claim to like manly men, but Bush is one of the biggest mama's boys in history. Mommy and poppy Bush propped him up for years, his biggest accomplishment, before he traded on the family name in Texas, was pulling himself out of a bottle in his 40s, which I admit, is admirable, but just being an ex drunk doesn't make someone qualified to be president, as we have learned to our eternal sorrow.

Not to mention he was a male cheerleader, and his family connections got him out of serving in Vietnam, if he had a D in front of his name, could you imagine what Rush and company would be saying about him?

As for Fred Thompson, I like him as an actor, he has a great screen presence, and I'm sure he would be a better president than Bush, but that's not saying much, in fact, it's pretty much being completely silent.
