eric ...

your post is better than my original one.

no apologies needed at all. totally cool. i didn't realize that anyone could have read that as satire because a) i don't have the brainpower for such trickery, even if just for social commentary, and b) it just didn't occur to me.

glenn does get his ass kicked regularly and has little ability to defend himself. (ok, that time is satire).

thanks for adding to the humanism here. i mean that ... fer realz.

Original article: She said, he said

obama/bloomberg '08

if the establishment democrats can't find a way to fold in obama's message of transformation, he should leave the party & run as an independant. so far clinton(s) has not done this ... and their smiling, muck-throwing "this is just how politics work" fills me with anger.

cythera45 you are embodying the problem

desires to be witty, satirical, or sardonic aside ... mocking people who want to see hopefulness in a candidate is, in my opinion, extremely uncool. also my opinion: if you state to want to enlighten those who project, in a "high school" fashion ... insulting them isn't the way to do it. i humbly submit that this tactic is more akin to high school b.s. than the sins of the projectors. in other words: if you are wanting people to grow up, try doing it yourself.

i like obama. i dislike clinton. and ... i like edwards ... in spite of your advocacy.

Original article: The Britney economy

britney "exploitation"

... is a complete and absurd sham. claiming that she is denegrates those who are actually exploited.

why do i say this?

because britney has 100% control over this "exploitation." to end it she could easily: renounce celebrity-ness, move away from la to some more normal place, and set up her life outside the wackiness of that industry.

no problem, cythera45

i'm quite happy to help. this is your next assignment:

An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who posts controversial messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, with the intention of baiting other users into an emotional response.

my last response

troll writes:

Oh, Totoro, what would I do without you?

i take this to mean "what would i do without people calling me out on my behavior"

my answer: you would continue to discharge your undigested feelings of irritation and anger onto those you encounter. you will continue to project your issues onto others. you will continue to have relationships that are turbulent and/or unsatisfying. you will continue to be unhappy. you will continue to lead an unexamined life. you will continue to be part of the problem.

but ... the truth is: i have compassion for you. and yes, this compassion come DIRECTLY from obama's ass. the candidate i wuv.

good luck ... and enjoy your last word.

:)

@Thrasher

hey thraser ...

i am begining to think that obama, with all his talents, will not be able to convince some (racist?) elements of the core dem electorate that he can forge a new majority. i think he is playing against a stacked deck ... mainly that the dem party establishment will not "really" endorse or support him because his reformer antics will shine a light on the dem establishment hypocrisy and double-dealing (see fisa fight going on).

i hope he can do it, and i agree that edwards in his court is key. but i think clinton gets that, hence her "secret meeting" with edwards.

if he can't ... i think obama would lose credibility (in my eyes) and his message would be diluted by a vp nod by clinton. i also think there's no way she'll offer it.

so ... i am actually hoping he'll go indy and that bloombrg would run (and pay for) his ticket as his vp. inspiration + real world business coo seems unbeatable with a mccain/idiot, clinton/edwards, obama/bloomberg election.

Original article: Keith Ledger is still alive

farhad the robot

this is sad news, dude. your wonkish post lacks actual humanity. i imagine you are human ... but try to understand that others may have actual feelings about this. and those feelings have nothing to do with how google searches are curiously changing because of a misspelled name.

Al Gore and the congressional black caucus

I remember watching Gore interrupt those standing up for him in congress. I felt dismayed that he's be so quick to ... uphold a sense of dignity? ... not plummet the country into serious crisis?

god knows. but whatever happened to him when he got drunk & grew his beard ... shooting off shotguns ... howling at the moon ... the man emegered with conviction and purpose. he really convinced the world of an imminent danger. his honor won all of us over, mostly. this is what is missing from democratic leadership. standing up for what is right out of conviction ... in the face of backlash. bush et al are repugnant leaders, but at least they can do this.
