That's exactly the reason that you (and probably Cliff Schecter) aren't on TV more often. You're not "nice."
"Nice" is what got us into Iraq and what's keeping genuine health care reform from being passed.
Fuck "nice."
Nope. No sir. He's a cartoon.
It's like Newt Gingrich talking about family values. A parody, though not on purpose.
Case closed.
Heather;
you may not think Jay Leno is charming or funny. Fair enough. But obviously, there are several million people who enjoy his work.
I think putting him on at ten is a ballsy move for NBC and a bit of a risk for Jay.
It's also more convenient for many people to watch him at that hour than to stay up until 12:30 on the Tonight Show. And for others, when there's nothing else they want to watch on any of the other channels, Leno will be a good alternative choice.
It makes sense in so many ways, so just suck it up and watch something else. Or read a book.
Total buffoon.
I look forward to more snark, Glenn. You wear it well!
Heck!
Dreck!
Wreck!
Feck!
Or maybe hourly.
This,
To me
Is sheer,
Poetry.
Never understood why he was ever... EVER... considered a journalist, let alone a "great" one.
A flack and a hack.
Camille Paglia is still alive? Who knew?
But why is she back in Salon? Can't she just go to NewsMax or Clown Hall?
Please!
Just kidding.
Couldn't agree more. Phillips is a twit.
They should have gotten rid of Morgan.
If Sutcliffe is up to it, he and Obie would be just fine.
I like Miller, but Morgan needs to hit the rubber chicken circuit. Asap.
Hail, King!
Frankly, I value editorial independence and am pleased that Salon doesn't mess with you and your stuff, GG.
I was a premium subscriber before you signed on here but if they ever bum-rush you, I will be gone, baby, gone.
Scott McClellan (whose named is repeatedly misspelled throughout the Op-Ed).
That would be "name" (without the "d"), right?
Sorry, GG. I'm a recovering copy editor.
Wonder if he scans Salon.
Also wonder if we ought to start the Rahm dead pool (for his tenure, not his life).
I'll take ten months.
Anyone else?
Glenn;
other than you and Eric Alterman, I don't recall seeing this fool taken "seriously."
I'm not saying that you shouldn't ridicule him or use him as an example of the disingenuousness of "conventional wisdom," but ultimately, this type of buffoonery is patently transparent.
Or to put it another way, you had me at "Marty Peretz" and "TNR."
Alfred E. Neumann and Mad magazine have more credibility.
I think Obama is playing this exactly right.
Saying that he wants him to remain in the caucus is benign. Leaving it would be Lieberman's choice if he's stripped of his chairmanship, which is up to the rest of the caucus.
The caucus can — and should — vote to strip him of his chairmanship of the Homeland Security Committee. From that point, it's Lieberman's choice to leave or stay in the caucus.
This is how it should be, as Obama is the putative head of the party. But the responsibility for action in this matter remains with Congress, the caucus and Lieberman.
I thought that Mackey is going to be enjoying an extended dirt nap, too, but Michael Ausiello of Entertainment Weekly claims that the finale ends in a way that's "insanely satisfying," so...

I too viewed Fox more than I ever have; 100% actually, since I never watch it.
Regardless, it was hilarious to see the corpulent Karl Rove and the funereal Chris Wallace solemnly discuss their mortal fear of the "impending" reinstatement of the equal time rule for broadcasting, which would "decimate" right wing talk radio.
Brilliant stuff!
I want to know what she thinks.
Get with it!
The current case of Rep. Tim Mahoney's multiple affairs potentially involves abuse of power and illegal use of campaign and other public funds.
Glenn;
"potentially" is a loaded word, of course.
Mahoney may be an adulterer and a crappy Democrat, but I've not seen any reports of his "illegal use of campaign and other public funds."
Have you?
No one could be that silly. Maybe he's a fictional character like Mr. Mxyzptlk.
Yet they still publish his silliness in newspapers all over the country, which is amazing.
And he's a "conservative," no less, which now means "people who just make crazy shit up," I guess.
What a strange world we live in!
Not only will there be a wingnut circle-jerk firing squad, Glenn, but some Whitewater-style investigation will be attempted to dig for... something, anything... if/when Obama is elected.
Hopefully, we've all learned from that experience and how to avoid the trap.
Hopefully...
We'll see.
Chip needs to be de-puked. Stockton sounds like his flight just got in, but a Fox-free, Joe Morgan-less baseball broadcast is worth enduring these anomalies.
... that Bush would appoint another liar as attorney general?
Nice job, Congressional Democrats.
Obviously, I left off the final "e".
So sorry.
I can't think of "bipartisanship" with recalling the famous Grover Norquist quote: "Bipartisanship is another name for date rap."
Bob Graham ought to know better.
Sometimes a cigar is just a smoke.
But if you think it's about 9/11, then maybe it is... to you.
Good for you, Glenn. Your initial critique and response to King's pissy e-mail was dead-on. Reporters are supposed to be skeptical and questioning, not hail fellows well met.
King ought to try to respond to the substance of your criticism and not his bruised ego.
As if!
A fantasy, of course, but some day, she may just wink at the camera and say, "Kidding!" ...but I'm not holding my breath.
I'm with you on that, Glenn. The Daily Howler (http://www.dailyhowler.com/) is, indeed, incomparable.
Somerby is amazing and his site needs to be bookmarked -- and read -- by your readers, too.
