Well, don't you think the folks in Bozeman have a right to fly with decent connecting schedules? Airlines are responding to customer demand. There are huge numbers of regional jets on order for that reason. We will probably soon see a lot of direct flights from Bozeman to other small cities, bypassing the hubs. That will go a long way to curing the so-called traffic congestion. What we really need is lots of fast 10-20 passenger planes that could be economically flown from Bozeman to Cedar City for example, bypassing SLC. Of course the real problem is that you need low-cost crews for that type of service. You can't pay a pilot $100K a year to fly 10 people. Patrick might have a problem with the reduction of pilot salaries with the advent of the regional jet. But all of us Americans will have to get used to salary reduction. You are worth exactly what your replacement will work for, not one cent more.
I'm a private pilot with 1600 hours and an instrument ticket. I have flown in and out of JFK, LGA, PHL, DCA, BOS, SFO, and lots of other hubs in a single engine plane. So I am familiar with traffic control at airports.
I was driving in the hinterlands a few years ago, and the only station I could get was a Christian Fundamentalist. The preacher was defining how a man should treat his wife. She should not work, but if she has to, she should have no friends at her job. If she appears to be getting familiar with anyone outside her family, she should have to quit her job. She must restrict herself to her family. I think that Jewish Fundamentalists have the same attitude. The greatest fear of Fundamentalists of any stripe is that "their" woman will spread her legs for someone besides her husband. Pretty scary stuff.
Maybe Patrick can chime in on this. I can't believe that it's less expensive to run two or three regional jets than a single 737, for example. It doesn't seem reasonable that the airlines would use two or three planes spaced an hour apart to avoid using one larger one. What are the economics? There is something fishy here. I'm sure that a 737 would use less gas to haul the same number of passengers as using two or three smaller planes. Patrick, what is going on?
Sociopaths are the embodiment of evil, and extremely dangerous to be around. They do not have a tortured soul, they have no soul. They are difficult to identify, since many are intelligent and charming. The LW is in a deep pit of potential problems. The sociopath could easily manipulate the situation to make the LW look very bad. He/she should quit his/her job and move on.
My tinnitus almost completely disappeared after I started taking 3 grams of EPA + DHA per day (about 10 fish oil capsules). My wifes hearing improved by 20 dB and she tossed her hearing aids. Her audiologist refused to believe his own numbers. A side effect is that with that much omega-3 in your system you are almost completely immune to sunburn. So we also tossed our sunblock.
To all the people who are champing at the bit for $9 gas I need to throw out, right now throw out about a quarter to a third of the food in your house.
I was at Massacre Rocks State Park last fall. The local Indians who lived there 150 or so years ago got 90% of their nutrition from grass seed. They were pretty healthy.
Then I need you to run upstairs and toss out 90% of the prescription drugs you take.
Most prescription drugs are worthless. Prescription drugs are oversold to people who would be much healthier if they lived on the above mentioned grass seed.
Go to your closest and toss out a large chuck of your clothing not completely made by natural fibers. Then I need to run back downstairs and toss 2/3rds of the plastic you can get your hands on. On your way down stairs you might want to toss or at least lock away in a closet your computer, iPod, DVD player and TV. And if it's a flat screen you should kiss it goodbye.
Well, we can do without a lot of that stuff, but being resourceful critters we will find a way to have some of it. Most plastics can be made from crops like soybean oil.
When you go outside I want you to drain half the gas out of your gas tank and only fill it up half as much even if that means it's empty for a few days a month.
During WW2 my mother got along on 3 gallons a week. Delivery men came by with grocery carts, butcher wagons, etc. My neighborhood could easily be served by diesel hybrid trucks bringing the stuff to us. Instead of 75 households driving 10 miles round trip to shop two or three times a week delivery services could easily do it. If a typical household only drives three times a week to the stores, it would take 2250 miles of driving a week for the 75 houses. That would burn about 100 gallons, as opposed to say three delivery trucks driving three times a week at half that mileage, that would burn eight gallons a week. Many of us would walk the 10 mile round trip, greatly benefiting our health.
I am looking forward with eagerness to $10 gas. The present scourge of type 2 diabetes would end in three months, along with many other benefits.
