Re:A guide to the rightwing mind.

But Tom, the operative phrase in everything the GOP does, is IOKIYAR. Doesn't matter what it is, Democrats bad, Republicans good. That's why they're the party of hypocrisy.

guide to the rightwing mind

This poster has a point. Ms. Walsh should fire Glenallen Wankin' or whatever his name is and hire Tom Tomorrow to explain how conservative wingnuts actually think. It would be much more truthful and have the added benefit of some humor as well.

Grin and grimace

As always, it's funny (and sad) because it's true.

This Modern World

Tom Tomorrow is the best cartoonist going now. His incisive arguments and snarky wit dissect talking points in a way that is inherently obvious to everyone except bipeds with Republican brains.

Standing "O"

Tom Tomorrow - you are the best!

More Republican hypocrisy

Those Rethuglicans have a lot of nerve criticizing Obama for not doing more to help promote democracy in Iran. It was their Presidents, Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush, who sold weapons to the ayatollahs in the 1980's and sabotaged efforts to free the American hostages in Tehran.

During the Gulf War

During the Gulf War, there were no such things as bloggers.

"In an alternate universe, this man is president."

Whenevere we are feeling down, we can always remember that! All of a sudden the worlds problems don't seem so bad!

They May Have A Point

When I see that manly Sen Lindsey Graham talk about Obama being too soft..............I mean is that wishful thinking on Lindsey's part. I think Graham likes 'em soft and smooth.

His cartoon would be funnier if it wasn't true. Unfortunately, the Cons have the luxury of being contrarians about everything since they have no power, no ideas and no future. It is an enviable position to be in when your opposition is a bunch of whimpy Democrats. They say BOO, and Harry Reid runs for the hills.

Don't get me started on the blue dogs who are doing very well thank you , as paid errand boys of the insurance industry. Even the good ones have their spouses on corporate boards making nice 6 figure salaries, so they look the other way.

A pox on all of them. It is time for a new generation to take over and fix what these ass holes have screwed up with their greed and incompetence.

The last frame

I was thinking about the theme of the last frame earlier--when I remembered that Democrats stole the 1960 election from Nixon.

Ukraine, Kenya, now Iran!

Look, in 2000 our democratic vote was overturned by thugs. And since then, a bunch of countries have had the same thing happen, and not just rolled over and taken it. Yushenko's in office, Odinga's the prime minister, and we'll see how Iran plays out.

On the one hand, I think we created a shining counterexample to the world of what happens when you don't object, and trust the judiciary. On the other, I'm a little peeved about all these undernourished, poorly educated foreigners showing us up.

Ok, stentor

Would you please share with the rest of us Great Unwashed and Unhip exactly what that acronym means?? Thanks.

IOKIYAR

It's Only Kryptonite If You Are Republican

Monday, June 22, 2009 10:06 PM

What, no fly joke?

I am impressed by how the media does not seem to be swamped by discussion of Obama's proficiency at swatting.

Then again, it's only a matter of time. We still have Mr. Bolling on Thursday, after all.

Funny

And painful, as Tom usually is. Loved the last column particularly, what a brilliant little STFU.

"Axis of evil"

What a difference a loss of power makes! McCain and Graham, the prominent cheerleaders of the Iraq war, were advocating blowing all Iranians off the globe last fall. Now these two weak 'sisters' want to opine on courage. They don't even have the courage to come out of the closet. I assume McCain told Graham that DADT applies to them, too, and we all know that Graham has never had an original thought.

Just for the record, Reagan false bravado didn't topple the Soviet Union. One of the largest contributor's to the Soviet demise was Afghanistan. For a third world nation, Afghanistan has a history of destoying world dynasties. When Reagan no longer had to worry about re-election, he adopted Obama's approach to foreign affairs and produced results. Since Obama is a student of history it might be more accurate to state that Obama has adopted the more successful diplomacy that Reagan, against the protest of the party, adopted during his second term.

That being said, find an Irani citizen old enough to remember American Empirialism under the sadistic Shah and see if they don't perfer their current government no matter how bad it is. They want change, but they certainly don't want the change we have offered them in the past. We have a shameful history with the people of Iran. We earned the condemnation as the Great Satan. The best way we can make amends and open a dialogue with Iran that benefits all is to allow the Irani people to rise up against their oppressers without our interference.

Funny, I don't remember Krauthammer or Bennett being concerned when students took to the streets

in the 60's and 70's to protest an illegal and unnecessary war in Vietnam.

In 1970, when 4 students were murdered at Kent State and 2 more were killed at Jackson State, the Right was screaming they shoulda killed all of 'em!

Flip flop flip flop flip

Republicans change their minds a lot because they wear out so quickly.

One Thing Iran Does Show

Is that Hillary Clinton was right.

These people don't change just because you talk to them.

The dictators and mad men of the world remain as such whether you offer them a carrot or a stick. They are dictators more interested in maintaining their power then negotiating anything. They may give you lip service when it suits themselves (such as Kim Jong Il) but in the end, they are only looking out for themselves and will happily order the deaths of their own citizens if it ensures they maintain control of their power.

All that said however, Obama's talk has shown us one thing. If we remove the U.S. as a credible whipping boy for dictators. Stand open, but cautious to our enemies. Our enemies lose credibility in describing us as their enemy which allows their people to see the boot on the back of their necks is not ours but their own leaders.

In Iran, in Cuba, in North Korea, so long as the dictators can make us the enemy they have a sufficient scape goat for their people's suffering. Remove that piece from the board, and the empty bellies of the populace ring out, and will do what a hundred regiments of tanks could not.

What the Supreme Leader doesn't realize is he's already lost. I would expect his removal by the Council of Experts before too long so that they might maintain their position of power.
