This Modern World

The raw, gritty and totally true story of a penguin.

The letters thread is now closed.

Can't see it

I can't imagine that Sparky would waste his time writing a memoir, fictional or not. Unless, of course, he was trying to make one of those points he's always going on about.

Life goes on

I'm watching one of the recently exposed false autobiographers rebuild her life as a nurse. She is working all night, sleeps two hours in her car (her instructor wakes her up on the way to class), and has to find a live-in helper to be at her house while her young daughter sleeps. Tragically, the only fiction in her book was the main character.

Lots of people!

I and lots of my friends love Tom Tomorrow - it's the highlight of my week starting!

Monday, January 12, 2009 08:25 PM

Yay! After eight years, Tom can finally go back to making fun of more general things

I'm so happy to see a TMW that's about the stupid, vapid morons in the publishing industry rather than the stupid, vapid morons on Fox News.

Don't know nothin' 'bout no penguin, Miss Scarlet

'Cause I never read no penguin comics.

Keep lightin' the way..

..Sparky!

One more please...

Can we have just one more on GWB please?

Did you see his final TV interview? He was just asking to be made fun.

to paraphrase-

"The biggest that historians will be looking at when they discuss Iraq is the surge"

Sorry, didn't read it.

A subtle TMW?

Was this perhaps a scalding rebuke of the media's own lack of self investigation following the WMD and other Bush era debacles?

Not having a heavy handed final joke kind of leaves people wondering, but I think that may have been his point in this.

One can never tell with subtlty of course.

@ gar

I agree with the first poster - Sparky made it all up and went thru' the exposure just to make one of those points he's always going on about!

Tuesday, January 13, 2009 08:21 AM

time for one more

He's got time to get in one more while Mr. Bush is still in office. But what I'm expecting this time next week is something along the lines of how everything will be good now and all of the problems solved by the new president Because He Is A Democrat (TM). With a subtext about the nth "end of history." You know, just as a sort of "start your engines" before the next round.

Now, if that's not the essence of a powerful new blockbuster autobiography, I don't know what is!

Oddly enough......

Oddly (though not really) enough, Sparky and I have both been at least accused of being meth-snorting sex addicts with gambling debts; but - in my case - the soon-to-no-longer-be- current Admins. White Supremacists lackeys (the 'mulleted ones' love their Meth, haven't you heard?) set the whole thing up so that - after they killed two Portlanders - they could act like they were just out to 'save me from drugs'.

I have an Honest Face - and I'm actually NOT LYING; any publishers - or ACLU Lawyers - wanna piece of this crap?

I've been taking notes. Talk to me at JimRinX, on this blog.

Zippy

Is it just me, or is there an air of "Zippy the Pinhead" hanging over this particular strip?

Maybe it's just me.

I would know. I would know.
