  • Would have been right, but -

@LoserBroadside: The only problem is, Obama was never behind by delegates since day 1. So - he couldn't have made the arguments you ascribe to him.

  • Quick list (and explanation) of his acheivements

He opposed the war from the start. Don't worry there's more, but just had to get this one in because it is important and no matter how much you try to deride it as "just a speech" it still counts. For those of us who are actually opposed to the war it's a pretty big deal.

2.) 2006 Coburn-Obama Transperency Act- which tightens the rules on what Senators can get away with respect to lobbyists and makes them disclose more. Again I know (some) of her supporters don't care as they think the whole lobbyist issue is stupid and unimportant. Others of us believe they have too much power and are ruining the government

3.) The Lugar-Obama Nuclear Non-proliferation and Conventional Weapons Threat Reduction Act- Again this matters because as we start to withdraw troops from the war in Iraq and put the effort into actually catching the terrorists in Afghanistan we have to make sure nukes don't leak out from country's like Pakistan. It's also much better than bombing Iran as both McCain and Clinton (who voted for the Kyl-Lieberman Act declaring the Iranian Revolutionary Guard a terrorist organization thus giving a justification for war) seem to support.

4.) The Protection Against Excessive Executive Compensation Bill- This is important as it begins to stop this absurd over-rewarding of rich CEOs and corporate profiteering that is ripping this country apart. However Clinton supporters out there including the MSM (like Paul Krugman) immediately start yelling at us that this is not a solution to all of the economy's problems. Yeah, we know that. But it is a start. There's more.

I could give a list a mile long, but figure this is more than enough. Just so Clinton supporters can't continue to go around (although they will) claiming Obama has no real acheivements at all. Here's a list. Try to find some of Hillary's accomplishments (particularly in the Senate). It'll be much shorter than you think it is.

  • I see lolcait

So, we're better off with McCain than Obama. Yeah, that makes perfect sense.

That is really typical of the kind of mud-slinging that pisses me off about the Clinton campaign. I didn't like the Clinton Iraq vote. I think it showed poor judgment, but I don't think Hillary is a neo-con for that vote. Apparently you think that Obama is in the pocket of big business though...

God, that kool-aid must taste delicious.

  • hm

So nice to see a comic that boldly defies conventional campaign rhetoric and fearlessly offers unbiased, meaningful criticism that we can all take to heart.

    Oh.

    Nevermind.

  • play together nicely, children...

    and vote democrat.

while every pollie is despicable, some are orders of magnitude worse than others. if you're unhappy after 8 years of bush, imagine how unhappy you will be after another 8 years in iraq, plus a republican economy in which nothing really bad is happening as long as the income of the top 1% is rising.

    concentrate: any democrat!

  • Obama

Is great sex on a pile of money. Obama is the Sun God. Obama is Liberal Crack.

  • Another liberal dumps on Hillary

Dang. I have to scratch another favorite off my list. Maybe TT can become the official cartoonist for the Obama campaign. I haven't forgotten the Gore-bot either. Some of us have memories that go back farther than a year or two.

  • Tom Tomorrow Is an Equal Opportunity Skewer

I don't have a dog in the fight, and thought this was funny.

  • Tom Yesterday

Sorry to see him being swept away by Obamamania and their right-wing propaganda. When you wake up, President Obama (or President McCain) don't have to worry about all those promises, because you ain't gettin' any. But Obama still will be talking about bipartisanship, and the Republicans will just be gobbling him up.

  • Re:I'm with lolcait

Screw you miclarke, Obama is going to have his head handed on a silver platter to him by the Republicans during the general campaign if he gets the nomination. If they want to play dirty, let's get someone who's been on the receiving end of their horse manure for eight years or more.

Besides, there's something about Obama that bugs the shit out of me. Maybe it's the fact that I've had to listen to a moron spout nothing but meaningless, mindless platitudes for the past eight years, that I can't stand listening to some Democrat spout meaningful platitudes, it's all starting to sound like drivel to me.

I've looked at his Senate record, I'm not impressed. Even his mentor stated that Obama never really accomplished what he said he would. Doesn't matter what color someone is, they can still be a lazy fucker, hell, I'm a lazy fucker, but if I had been planning on running for President, I sure as shit would have racked up a larger list of accomplishments than he did.

  • Class Action Fairness Act of 2005

    @ locait

Maybe Obama voted for the Class Action Fairness Act in order to further estrange himself from John Edwards. The Class Action Fairness Act has long be a favorite of some extremely rich Texas business men. Of course, Bush 41 & 43 are also rich Texas business men.

Methinks Obama is just as corporate as Hillary in his own sweet way. He always butters his bread where it matters. In addition, his Illinois career was built in a little more than a year with legislation being handed to him so a deal-maker could "make me a U.S. Senator."

If McCain wins we have someone with a track record almost as illiberal almost as Bush's. With Clinton we get a known triangulator. With Obama we get Mr. Mystery Man. Wait! Didn't we try that before in 2000 with the compassionate conservative still in office? The guy who promised us no nation building? That's right! George W. Bush ran in 2000 on a platform of bipartisanship and promising not to interfere unnecessarily in the business of other nations. He's a Uniter, Not a Divider!

  • Hysterical!

Everyday is backwards day in Billary Land Tom.

  • @Stentor

Obama is going to have his head handed on a silver platter to him by the Republicans during the general campaign if he gets the nomination.

Actually, I'd say Obama has handled Clinton's nastiness pretty presidentially. He hasn't been so bogged down in shit slinging, he's made some bold and direct moves, and he hasn't really complained. I think, for most Democrats, the main issue is not that Obama is getting attacked unfairly per se, it's that it's being done by someone who will eventually need to support him. She's essentially making up for McCain's budget deficit by using her own money to make many of his points for him. That's the objection.

Once the general election starts, sure, the republicans are going to sling so much shit it will look like mating time in the monkey exhibit. And I expect Obama will handle it brilliantly, as he's handled things so far.

I can't stand listening to some Democrat spout meaningful platitudes, it's all starting to sound like drivel to me

I'd say you've become quite cynical. Understandably so. However, that says probably less about Obama than it does about you. (We'll see if he gets elected, and whether or not any of those platitudes comes to anything.)
