  • To pick a nit...

<<Influence of Hitler, Stalin, Mao didn't last much longer than their tenure.. let's hope same applies to Bush.>>

Mao's influence is still going strong, actually. He's not the most popular guy these days, but he's still darn influential.

Dubya never had any "influence." He just had power. We're idiots for having ever given it to him.

  • where will we be in ten years?

    I believe you on Mao.

The reason I threw Mao/Stalin in with Hitler was to make the point, which I didn't make, that until our current administration it's always been *other* countries who've had to deal with the evil leader problem.

Maybe "influential" isn't the right word.. but the Bush administration has certainly had impact. I'd love to see a comparison to Hitler: although both were bad, how long do you think the world took to "recover," if that's the word, from Germany/WWII? And how long do you think it will take to repair Bush's impact on human rights/torture, the environment, Islamic relations, government balance of power, etc.

By the way Nick, please be assured I'm more upset about the human cost of war than the financial cost. My points on dollar figures were in response to the cartoon. And I'm also Russian, for God's sake.
