So the issue of illegal immigration is past history now -- Here's what's next:
It's a three-year old topic and the Democrats lost the high ground. (see my previous post).
What's next?
Maybe they will listen to me this time. Maybe you will pay attention this time. I'm going to tell you something you need to be paying attention to RIGHT NOW, because by the time the 2012 election season rolls around, it's going to be bigger than illegal immigration.
What is it?
CHINA.
Americans stumble into Wal-Mart to do all their shopping, from food and clothing to music and sporting goods. They even get the tires for their car and a Subway sandwich, never knowing that they are committing suicide on the installment plan.
Do you know or care that you are basically giving communist China the money they are using to build their infrastructure as ours is collapsing from neglect? Does that mean anything at all to you?
Do you know or care that you are basically giving communist China the money they are using to build their army and navy to surpass ours? Does that mean anything to you? Does that register?
Well, it's going to mean something to you. The Chinese think in the long term. They can't beat us head on. But as they grow stronger, we grow weaker. They are buying all our debt for the two wars we are waging. McCain says, "No new taxes" and the American dumbasses sit up and clap like a bunch of trained seals and then go shopping at Wal-Mart and buy Chinese made crap and put more Americans out of a job. So instead of pay as you go, America is borrowing from the Chinese. It's painless. It's like America cutting her wrists in a nice warm bath as her blood oozes out, she doesn't feel a thing. Until she's dead.
You probably don't know this, and if you did, you probably don't give a shit because it has no significance to you, but communist China now owns all the deep water ports on the West coast of Mexico. Google "Lazaro Cardenas."
It's China's newest port acquisition to bring ro-ro ships full of Chinese made crap into Mexico. The Chinese are investing heavily in Mexico and all the countries of Latin America. While our little stooge of a president is busy pissing off all the governments of Latin America, the smiling Chinese are ingratiating themselves and setting up trade partnerships.
The fucking Chinese are not sitting at home anymore folks. Thanks to all the plastic shit we buy from them, they are funding their new mercantile adventures around the world and getting strong while we bleed out.
I don't care if you think I'm right or wrong about this. But I guarantee you, by the beginning of the campaign season of 2011, you'll see the Republicans grab this issue and define the debate just like they did with the illegal immigration issue. And the Democrats, as usual, will sit around scratching their twats and miss another opportunity to get out in front of the next big thing.

The next issue is not how to retain hegemony, but why. We would happily accept world wide second rate status and all that that entails if it meant following any stupid ideology that most Americans could get behind. Why not? And why aim for the standard of living of Denmark when Uruguay or Argentina is enough. We'd be happy with that.

Wow, if these letters are what passes for liberalism..
I can only say I am glad I made the leap to an international socialist perspective over this past 7 years.
The red baiting, nationalism, immigrant bashing and ignorance (China is 'communist'?) among many of these letters shows liberalism has sunk to a level that could aptly be described as demoralized liberal reaction.
I want no part of it. The likes of Hannity and Rush have only little more backwardness and chauvinism than that expressed by many of those who have posted here.
Maybe the demoralized character and lack of political perspective as seen in many letters and articles here is why I have shunned Salon over the last several months.
