Failing upward: A small sampling of the wisdom and insight that have just earned William Kristol a weekly column in the New York Times.

  • Would'nt it be easier to list the things he's been right about?

Or would that generate a divide by zero error?

  • ?

Why would the NYT feature someone who was so wrong so often? It's not because Kristol and the owners have the same position on Israel, is it? Leave it to TT to bravely take on the neocons and their Zionism!

Oh wait, he never does that.

  • Why should he be any different than Friedman?

They both supported the war, only Kristol because he's a good conservative and Friedman because he's a good liberal (!?).

  • I hear the violence in Iraq is actually going down...

of course that's not what I see when I turn on the news, but it's what I've heard.

Now all we need to do is find those WMDs, right Bill?

  • Rub the NY Time's nose in it

    To: publisher@nytimes.com

Subject: the wit and insights of William Kristol

A few of the absurd statements made by Mr. Kristol over the past six years:

    http://www.salon.com/comics/tomo/2008/01/07/tomo

Now tell me with a straight face that "The Serious" Mr. Kristol deserves space in your publication on anything other than the comics page. If you can say that then you're stupider than Mr. Kristol and deserve to be bought by Rupert Murdoch and turned into the New York Post.

  • So- On New Years Eve William Kristol filled out two job resumes.

    (1) The New York Times.

    (2) The New York Kennel Club.

(~) He was investigate for cruelty to dogs.

  • I really liked Bill Kristol...

...when I saw him in When Harry Met Sally.

That orgasm bit in the diner really busted me up.

  • Overheard in an airport men's room

"The internet? Are you kidding me? It's just a fad, a toy for the kids. NOBODY wants to get their news and commentary from the internet! EVERYBODY wants to read newspapers! Especially the New York Times! Especially now that Billy Crystal writes a column for it!"

  • Hiring a right-wing loser hack will help boost the NYT's readership?

The logic of this escapes me.

  • Got to have that dissenting voice

That represents 99% of the US powerstructure. Aside from internet, TV, billboards, movies, history books, magazines, products, and basically the air we breathe---how else are they going to get their message across? Enron, Halliburton, GE, Murdoch, ADM, Dow all Good. Populism (i.e. people) "bad for America." (Brit Hume, Fox news)

  • The New York Times - A Liberal Newspaper

The funny thing is not that many right wingers believe that the NYT is a Liberal newspaper, but that some liberals still do as well.

First Judith (take a letter) Miller and now this smirking sanctimonious little swine. How long before we get the series of articles on the threat from Iran?

    The irony is choking.

  • Are All Newpapers Getting Their Token Right-Winger

You know, I think this is a trend. At least two other newspapers I know of (one is a regional newspaper and the other a local paper) have hired a right-winger (all the way to a neocon nut-job) as a new columnist. That's hardly a random sample but I'm wondering if right-wing accusations from the right-wing that all newspapers are left-wing is finally paying dividends.

As this cartoon shows, a common denominator among all three right-wing columnists is that they all have their own facts and history that is shared by no one else other than fellow right-wingers.

  • Based on the real record...

Clearly the NYT's is not the American Warmongers Worst Media Foe based on the record of what it has reported, printed and promoted often since 2003.

W.Kristol fits in with NYT's stands on American Occupation of Iraq quite well based on where NYT's has been or still is on not reporting what is truly taking place in Iraq or peddling American propaganda steadily, repeatedly and reliably.

As for what the Israeli Occupation is doing to Arab Palestine day in/day out the NYT's seldom fails to overlook the record of that brutal and ongoing occupation smash/expunge record of fact.

W.Kristol and his like have for several years now been given tall soapboxes across the American media spectrum to claim, restate and repeat what clearly are not factual, ethical or moral based point of views. With no consequences for being wrong or very flawed in repeatedly doing so.

The NYT's is now intent on and deliberately allowing W.Kristol to do more of it.

The Americans are not the 'good guys' in Iraq. The Israelis are not the 'good angels' in Arab Palestine.

War and occupation crimes are taking place in Iraq and Arab Palestine.

So where is the NYT's in doing what it claims to do and be?

Seeking out the truth. Telling the truth.

Americans are the war criminals in Iraq today. Little different then the Hitlerian/militarist driven Nazis or Tojo led Japanese militarists of WW2 were. What did the Nazis seek and desire? What was Imperial Japan after? What are the Americans now seeking and desiring in Iraq? Ignoring, breaking and abusing what is lawful or right repeatedly in doing so? John McCain states it well enough in recent days. W.Kristol is a zealot and missionary for it and more of it. This is the factual record of what is taking place and who is in support of it.

The dishonesty in not reporting this as it is can be squarely placed at the door of the NYT's. Rightfully so.

Hiring someone as loathsome and hollow as W.Kristol again fully underlining how shabby, phony and 'Pravda' like the NYT's is.

Perhaps the NYT's should bring Dick Cheney and Joe Lieberman in as regulars as well. It has been serving them up now for years as is anyway.

Based on the real record. In Iraq. In Israel.

  • Unbelievable!

I just read his column today ..it could be a satire of itself ..even going so far as to quote the esteemed political commentator Michelle Malkin refering to her as a "conservative writer" . That this idiot would be allowed any platform is beyond comprehesion. I guess the editorial fact checkers at the NYT are in need of somthing to occupy their time.

  • ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US

Billy the K is the kind of Zionist who ought to be compelled to wear a gold star as fair warning to others. Some kind of hideous dwarf crossed with Emperor Palpatine from Star Wars. "Hi, I'm here to promote the interests of a foreign country as your own, don't mind me."

    Newspapers. As relevant as baseball.

  • A bit of a boogeyman, no?

I mean other than Gordon, who truly believes Jews are satanic beasts to be sent straight to hell in the crematoria, is there anyone here who doesn't understand that a newspaper column, is, at the end of the day, a newspaper column? Even NPR has its Maura Liason. I think it's called having a fig leaf of unbias or something like that.
