Hit or Miss
Like any great cartoonist TT is hit or miss. This one is a direct hit. There is no good explanation for Hillary's Iraq vote or Iran vote. On Iraq, was she gullible or pandering?
On Iran, was she gullible or pandering (or in thrall to AIPAC)?
And even with all her triangualting and pandering and and attempts to use hawkishness as a rhetorical strap-on dildo, she is still the most unpopular of the Dems among independents and people outside the Democratic Party in general.
We are as stupid as the GOP if we nominate this person.
Thank You TT.

Not all Republicans hate Hillary
In fact, Hillary Clinton is in many ways typical of Republican politicians of 30 years ago. I know many long-time Republican voters who are utterly horrified and appalled at how the extreme right wing has taken over the GOP and are racing it over a cliff. They have little respect for "pure" Democrats like Obama, but they think Hillary would be sufficiently business-friendly and centrist to be acceptable. Remember, the haters and crazies are still a small minority. I bet Hillary would win the general election by a much bigger margin than expected.

@Happy Friend
We are as stupid as the GOP if we nominate this person.
We are. And we will. Sorry to bust your bubble.

@Reader
You are deluding yourself. The people who view Hillary for what she is, a right-leaning Democrat, are in the minority. The Republicans have controlled the language in Washington for over a decade, and they (and their lapdogs) have her pegged as a liberal.
Doesn't matter if it's true or not. Perception is everything, and this is what people think of her.
She would most definitely lose in the general election. That you think otherwise says more about how you feel about Hillary than reality.
Pray you wake up soon.

@redcent
Oh, come on now. There's a world of difference between calling Hillary names and pointing out the disturbing inconsistencies between what she does and what she says. These are valid points about the weakness of her candidacy that should be addressed. By equating this cartoon with sexist mudslinging, you're trying to make all attacks on Hillary off limits. I imagine it would be okay to be critical of Obama's voting record without making it seem like the poor guy has to endure all sorts of slings and arrows because of his race, right? The same should go for Hillary.
Yes, I agree that she has been unfairly attacked as a "feminazi commie bitch et. al." by the blowhards on the Right, but you can hardly put this six panel satire on that level. I'm sick of the "quit picking on her because she's a girl" card being used inappropriately. Call it when you see it, but don't try to shut down the discussion with it. It's intellectually dishonest.

Who cares?
Any monkey could do 50% of the damage of this last gaggle of retards and zealots. It no longer matters which indistinguishable Democrat gets elected any more than it matters who is in control of Congress. You're fighting a war that does not make a difference any more. Hillary? Edwards? A potted plant? America is already over.

Its never straight up and down
@gezelligtexas: "Since you can't pin any real ideas on HRC based on what she says . . ."
Your premise is bogus. You should try listening to what she actually says instead of all the blather and spin that comes from the press about what she says. Or maybe you - like the press, and apparently like Tom Tommorow - just can't deal with ideas that take more than a sentence to express or can't be boiled down to yes or no.
Deanbooth and leo777 are right. The "war vote" was not a simple black and white issue and it was not the same thing as voting to invade Iraq. The only reason for anyone to have seen it that way in 2002 would have been to assume bad intentions on Bush's part. I'm sure that came easy to a lot of Salon readers, but I have a hard time faulting HIllary or the rest of Congress for not assuming the worst about Bush at the time.
And for Obama supporters, being against the war from the beginning does not mean that he wouldn't have voted the same way. I bet a million bucks he would have. Hillary was also against the war, but she wasn't against using strong leverage against Saddam. Is anyone going to argue that the situation in Iraq in 2002 was not a problem that warranted some kind of solution?
The blame for Iraq is Bush's, and Bush's alone. He was the decider, he did it.
-
@Mr. Spud
So I suppose the same goes for Hillary's votes on No Child Left Behind and BOTH Patriot Acts. And I'm sure the fact that she co-sponsored the Flag Burning Amendment is Bush's fault as well.
thanks for clearing that up.

What about all the Republicans she will bring to the polls
Hillary's biggest negative will always be the enormous number of Republican voters she will bring to the polls. Voters who would otherwise stay at home on election day.
The number of voters who absolutely despise her is staggering. She will energize the Republican base far better than any of the current crop of GOP candidates could dream about. Even if she were somehow able to overcome this and win the White House, the down-ballot votes for the Senate and the House would turn the Congress back over to the Republicans.
You don't pick a candidate who will is virtually guaranteed to turn control of legislative branch to the opposition. It would be utterly stupid and self-defeating.
Wait, we are talking about the Democrats. Utterly Stupid and Self-Defeating is kind of their motto these days.

Thank God Her Imperial Majesty isn't polarizing...
At least, among Republicans. They're united in agreement that they can't stand her.
As for us Dems, well, you don't need to be Jean Paul Sartre to read the handwriting on this wall. Or on this thread, for that matter.
If you want another 4 years of Republican presidency, if you want more of the same type of leadership that has brought our party to it's present sad and shabby state, if you truly want to place faith once again in a leader who reeks of coldblooded calculation and cynical manipulation, then for Heaven's sake just vote Republican from the get-go.
But spare the rest of us this bleating "she's almost a Democrat" claptrap. She's Cheney in a pantsuit. Take the blinders off.
