How about shoving somebody's face into a deep fryer?
Would you like Original Recipe, or Extra Crispy?
Hey it's just like a $150 acid peel at your day spa.
-
And the worst part is...
Dershowitz is Jewish! A Jewish liberal wants the US to emulate the Nazis. Can the world get any crazier?
-
Let's elect Tom Tomorrow President! He is GAWWWD!
He has criticized every politician of every stripe. He doesn't care if you're left, right, center or uncentered, you're wrong. The only person in the world who is right is...TOM TOMORRRRROW!
He is without sin, so he can cast the first stone. The only one entitled to throw rocks is...TOM TOMORRRRROW!
He is the only one who deserves to steer this nation through the rocky shoals of the next decade. Trust the instinct of...TOM TOMORRRRROW!
Remember, when you cast your vote...if you are lucky enough to have one...your judgment is worthless. The only judgment that matters is that of...TOM TOMORORRRROW!

I miss ten years ago too...
For one thing, we actually had a president that wanted to do something about our negative perception in the middle east by tackling the root of the problem: the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. Now we get a numbnuts who just says "they hate us for our freedom".
At least then congress wasn't afraid to impeach a president (granted it was for something stupid and pointless and didn't affect anyone).
-
In 1998, we didn't know the worst about the impeachment farce,
which was that it would so thoroughly discredit the entire process that a later Congress wouldn't want to use it even in the face of clearly impeachable offenses.

Since 95% of the MSM is holding it's nose pretending they're not standing on a big, rotting, dead elephant, Tom has my vote, any one who tells the truth is already at the 99.9th percentile in lucidity compared to the rest of the vacuous, meaningless American MSM.

Is torture so bad?
Isn't torture just kind of normal? Get used to it!

In the end
You folks will hang your entire legacy on what happens to a few hundred or a few thousand people in far away countries without once noticing what happens or could have been improved in this country, with our own people. That's why blogs all love to prattle on about foreign policy - because you don't actually have to do anything about it.

Most liberals have amnesia when it comes to the Clinton administration
"For one thing, we actually had a president that wanted to do something about our negative perception in the middle east by tackling the root of the problem: the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. Now we get a numbnuts who just says "they hate us for our freedom"."
Clinton did such a great job vis-a-vis the Middle East that the first and second intifadas occurred on his watch. Al Qaeda also grew from a ragtag group to an organization capable of bringing down the WTC on Clinton's watch. Al Qaeda's growth was a reaction to Clinton's policies vis-a-vis Iraq, most notably Albright's flip comment that the deaths of 500,000 Iraqi children was worth the price of sanctions.
As far as the "numbnuts" who say "they hate us for our freedom," consider this quote:
"While we can defeat terrorists, it will be a long time before we defeat terrorism. America will remain a target because we are uniquely present in the world, because we act to advance peace and democracy, because we have tajen a tougher stand against terrorists, and because we are the most open society on Earth."
Bill Clinton spoke those words on August 5, 1996.

TT's raised a point the MSM should have several years ago
Of course, that's hardly new. But I was recently thinking that the MSM talks about waterboarding as if it was the ONLY form of torture ever devised by man or done by thugs -- and sadly, our thugs. I think that may be because the dear sweet gentle Ive League people in the newsrooms of Washington and New York can't fathom that there are people who will also:
> strip someone naked and refrigerate that person while headphones blast overwhelming rock music into his ears,
> stuff someone head-first into a sleeping bag and beat the bejeesus out of the guy while he's nearly suffocating,
> apply electrical shocks to al sotrs of sensitive areas of the naked human body,
or any other cruel activity that they can think of. Maybe it's part of the continuing drive for softer and softer langauge, sort of like the way that "young thug" became "juvenile delinquent" which became "youthful offender." So, much the way that massacres and pogroms have become "ethnic cleansing" (that term was originally a shameful euphism by the Milosevich regime), torturing captive human beings has become simply and collectively "waterboarding."

@groenhagen
Clinton did such a great job vis-a-vis the Middle East that the first and second intifadas occurred on his watch.
You should at least try to get your facts right, groenie. The first intifada started in 1987 -- while the sainted Ronald Reagan was president -- and ended in 1993, a few months after Clinton took office. The second intifada began a few months before Clinton left office, and has continued though the Bush years.

Torture
The ridiculous quote from Alan Dershewitz, a man I used to admire greatly, is just another piece of evidence that there are too many people with power who are using our nation's military and treasure to do Israel's bidding.
How did Chertoff, Wolfowicz, Perle, et al, gain such high positions while holding dual Israeli-US citizenship? Why are Hispanic immigrants forced to foreswear allegiance to their former countries when they become citizens, but not these top "deciders" in our government?
Our government acting solely in Israel's interests explains a lot of stupid decisions that have been made by our "deciders".
-
Nothing wrong with my facts
"You should at least try to get your facts right, groenie."
You yourself acknowledged that Clinton was president while the first intifada was taking place.
And he second intifada began in September 2000, at the end of Clinton's presidency. That suggests that his apporach towards the Israeli-Palestinian conflict during his administration was a miserable failure.

the last panel says it all
Bush & Co are what they are and do not attempt to hide it.
The democrats in congress are...well, what? Loyal opposition isn't the right expression, as they haven't really opposed anything. Spineless jerks seems to fit pretty well, though it's an insult to all the invertebrates out there.
