veteran71 has it pretty well figured out. The neocons, (& other useless Republicans, etc.), are more hung up with a person's private business & shoving their moral beliefs down our throats. Hmmmmm, kind of like the attempts at colonial imperalism that they are currently practicing in the Middle East; "If we shove the square peg in the round hole hard enough, it WILL fit!" Keeping the masses diverted from the real problems facing us is a typical trick of theirs; "Why those people are having unmarried/same gender/some other form of sex right in the open, instead of sneaking around on their wives with that cute little boy we met in the restroom, like any morally upright American would actually do!"

Meanwhile their ultra rich cronies get even richer, their media buddies convince the "average American" that cutting taxes for the wealthy, ending government programs that actually help people, & privatizing everything is good for our country, & that knee jerk jingoistic "patriotism" is a fair substitute for actually either having served their country, or for really considering the issues; "Go shopping everyone! Nothing to see here! Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!"
