  • Where's Sparky?

    This was lame.

  • YUP

I don't think the American people are blind to what's taking place, last November's election was a mandate for change, but someone forgot to tell the Neocons. The baffling behavior of the Democrats, acting as if they are still the minority, and rubber stamping every bit of Illegal Domestic Spying and Illegal War for Profit funding requested from this Lame Duck quack, is the most disturbing thing of all, and the reason for Congress' lowest approval numbers in History.

When election day rolls around again, and this time the blood letting in the GOP ranks is even MORE pronounced, it won't matter anymore whether they get it or not, they'll have become irrelevant. The Democrats who have gotten in bed with them will not have to worry about a return trip either, as Americans are done listening to excuses. And for the GOP, maybe sitting in the corner whining and being ignored for the next 50 years is exactly what the doctor ordered.

    RIP, GOP,....RIP, Democratic Traitors.

  • The only problem here....

The only problem here....is that you need to remove "nutcase" and replace it with "partisan."

There is no difference, anymore. They're all nutcases.

  • From top to bottom, the Right Wing set the agenda in this country

Somehow because more socially liberal ideas can be found in American Entertainment--TV, movies, etc...right wingers think the left control the media. It couldn't be further from the truth.

This TT strip was right on. In fact, Joe Lieberman is the perfect example of a "non-partisan liberal" that is, a liberal who walks like, talks like, thinks like (and ocassionally kisses) the right wing.

  • Tom, you've got it backwards!

The only voices on the air represent elected officials -- not the bases -- and the way it goes is fierce argument when they AGREE:

Right/GOP: We're winning in Iraq and need to stay in Iraq forever.

Right/Dem: Iraq is going terribly! You are lettting America down. We need to stay in Iraq forever.

Right/GOP: We need to rollback more rights to catch terrorists like those sting operations against idiots who couldn't blow up a balloon.

Right/Dem: We are outraged by your disrespect for the Constitution! But we will allow a vote on repeal of the Constitution -- how many votes do you need?

Right/GOP: With all the money we need to spend on imperialism, we can't afford to educate our population, or give it healthcare.

Right/Dems: There is a role for government, you heartless scoundrals! But we will demand a balanced budget and promise not to roll back our war budget, leaving us to push education and healthcare policies that rely on the private sector.

  • A fine summation of the state of our political discourse

I've all but run out of sympathy for our national media'a "sensible liberal" caste that's all too willing to sacrifice core liberal principles on the altar of civility. If only we'd had more sensible liberals during the war for independence. An eighteenth century David Brooks penning a scathing editorial slamming this new "constitutional congress" for offending the sensibilities of the English gentry. I mean, "give me liberty or give me death?" Can't we meet the royalists halfway on that?

  • With "liberals"....

...like Klein, Friedman, Cohen, "O'Pollack" and their TV-acceptable accomplices, who needs "sensible Republicans"? Really, if Nader is so wrong, why do congressional Dems seem so hellbent on proving him right?

  • Klein, Friedman, Cohen, "O'Pollack"

Klein works for TIME, as its sole "liberal" who screams at liberals, Friedman works for the Times, Cohen the Post, and Pollack works at Brookings. These guys are all corporate employees. What exactly has this got to do with the Congressional delegation?

  • Nope.

'Common ground' is not about specific issues. It is about values. The political debate in this country works backwards from positions on certain issues, and ends in bullying, stonewalling and railroading, with no genuine search for truth, acceptance of irreconcilable perspectives, or mutual respect.

I am no longer interested in 'liberal' vs. 'conservative' dichotomies, not only because the liberals aren't liberal and the conservatives aren't conservative. The line I draw is 'people who listen' vs. 'people who don't.'

  • POW! RIGHT IN THE LABONZA!!!!!

What the rightwing nut case in Tom Tomorrow's cartoon needs is a SWIFT RIGHT CROSS in his GRINNING EVIL FACE, SMASHING HIS SMIRKING FACE IN, followed by a HARD LEFT UPPERCUT, POW! RIGHT IN THE LABONZA, then A KNEE IN THE GROIN, AND KICKING HIS HEAD WHEN HE'S WRITHING ON THE GROUND IN AGONY!!!!! Now, replace the face of the GENERIC rightwing nut case in Tom's cartoon with that of Pat Buchanan, William Kristol, Brit Hume, Ann Coulter, Bill O'LIE-lly, Melanie Morgan, Rush Limburger, Rusty Humphries, Karl Rove(GONE but not forgotten), ANY repugnicant-repub fudge-pachyderm who SUPPORTS Bushland Uber Allies----THAT makes me feel a HELL of a LOT BETTER!!!!!
