whatever it takes
Hey, you have to admit the guy had it coming. If he wasn't a terrorist, they wouldn't have picked him up.
And even if only one life was saved, then it was all worth it.
-
And he got off easy
Because if he had a son, he could be forced to watch his son's testicles being crushed. John Yoo said the President may do such things. Imagine what Yoo might tell the President is legal to do to the wife.
I think the Supreme Court OK'd kidnapping suspects from foreign countries some time ago. It could've been a free surprise family vacation.
So see, the President was exercising restraint.

Whatever it takes?
"If he wasn't a terrorist, they wouldn't have picked him up."
I had problems to get the sarcasm out of the sentence. Or is there no sarcasm? The whole comic reminds my on the case of Khaled el-Masri.
"And even if only one life was saved, then it was all worth it."
Pardon? You like to walk instead of driving? You want to melt all personal owned arms? Security is not above any constitution.

Very Funny
Sometimes, Tom hits it just right and manages to illuminate a serious issue but still make his cartoon laugh-out-loud funny. This week's cartoon was a great example of that.
-
sarcasm
I had problems to get the sarcasm out of the sentence.
Then you have a serious sarcasm detector malfunction. You should get that taken care of immediately.
-
Sorry you missed the sarcasm
If it helps, I will say that I yield to no one in my contempt for this administration.
What's missing from this comic is the panel where someone in the outside world complains about the policy and Dick Cheney, or some person like him (assuming he IS a person), assures us along the lines that "these people we have down there, they're the scummiest of the scum, the lowest of the low. They're vicious killers. Every single last one of them: irredeemable sick fanatical scum, every last one."
And then, the following week, quietly and with no fanfare, a group of the "scum" are released for lack of evidence.
Remember, folks, they hate us for our freedom. It's the only explanation.

the problem with sarcasm
is that it often sounds identical to what right-wingers say sincerely. Be careful with it. If you find too many people cannot tell when you are sarcastic, you're probably not doing it right.
Unless your purpose is to be secretly ironic.
