Blah blah blah phoned it in blah blah blah.
If the troll doesn't exist, it is necessary to invent him.
Like most of his other strips, it's a nice way to summarize old news, but with colorful pictures instead of detailed text. His work doesn't tax the imagination or demand too much of his loyal readers, and for that they should be grateful. Kind of like Ensure is to Senior Citizens as Tom Tomorrow is to Liberals. It's all true, even if it's been kind of chewed over and rendered flavorless by the time you get to taste it.
Have you noticed that, week after week, the Tom Tomorrow Troll just kinda ... wait for it ... phones it in?
He's a conservatard. You think he's actually capable of making a witty comment based on the subject matter at hand?
Trolling is pretty much all he and all of his ilk are capable of, let him enjoy his moment in the sun.
(thank you)
I don't care what it writes; I'm just pissed that the troll appears to have absconded with Step 5.
The pot calling the kettle black (no pun intended).
...to say that I like the comics now (I was concerned about the pattern of recent editions, but it's a comic strip), but I still miss the kind that start with "This is true" and then riff on some "I won't believe it until I see it" bit of outrageousness?
Without being assailed as a closet right-winger (like the last time I wrote about TMW)?
The "This is true" strips felt more active; you had to research that bit to get the full effect of the strip.
Also, as a recently graduated math major, I'm pissed that it took 7 letters (good gosh, I hope I counted right) to get to the missing step 5.
*chuckle*
But he really doesn't get under our skins. That's just what he wants to tell himself in order to make himself feel like he's getting a reaction. As I said a few weeks back (the last time I bothered to click the comments during a lunchbreak) it's more a case of people look at him and say "My god, how can anyone be so damaged as to think making a public spectacle of himself is success??" To phone it in again like he does, and repeat myself (which takes SO much effort to do, right?), it's a case of "That man is shitting his own pants! Urrrrghhhh, don't look! But... it's so stupid, I can't HELP but look at him debase himself!"
Which in the world of damaged trolls, means he's got attention. Yay trolls! You = Teh Winnarz!
Can't you just imagine them trying to impress girls with their antics? "So yeah, I totally punked those liberals! I insulted a cartoonist on the web, and made myself look like a complete retard, so they had to comment about me!" *girl filing her nails behind the desk* "Yes sir, very interesting I'm sure, but which department did you say you were looking for again?" "Er... um... hardware, I need to hang around with lots of other tools to feel validated." "Second floor, sir."
This post by the way took me *checks watch* 3 minutes to write. Phoned it in you see. Go Trolls! You So Importanty!
It is very important to keep pointing out how the right wing scum operate. The Germans failed to do this in the 30s. We need to contain our own little Nazis. The trolls are just more evidence of how little men want to participate in Fascism to make up for their sad lack of anything useful or attractive. Trolls, TT nails it every time, and your scum in the White House is ruining the country. Please kill yourselves-- if Bush had 20 years ago we'd have an extra trillion dollars and more security. Like the Southern slavers, you are just on the wrong side plan and simple. Like them, you are too much scum to even know it. Go back to bible camp and tell it to somebody as stupid and soulless as you are.
But I think the Main Stream Media was pretty quick and on the ball discounting this story.
Of course, Snopes.com had the story posted first, and refuted it long before Fox (which I really don't think counts as Main Stream Media)even began to hint around the edges on the story.
As to whether or not Hillary's camp had anything to do with the story. I doubt it, but you know what, I wouldn't put it past her either. It's a good rumor, especially since you can't directly attack Mr. Obama for being black (or Irish for that matter)so if you want to harness racial hatred against your opponant you will need to perform some kind of bait and switch.
Regardless of who started the rumor, it is top drawer smear, playing into the sterotypes that people want to have about their disliked candidate.
Much like, Al Gore "inventing the internet", Hillary Clinton's "Lesbianism", and George W. Bush's "Psychopathology/drinking problem/end times fanaticism".
It's gonna be a fun two years.
When the current noise about Barack Obama began, I knew that the scroundrels known as the Swift Boat Veterans for the Truth (aka the Sleaze Boat Varmints for the Coronation of Bush) had surfaced again. Back when Barack Obama was running for the U.S. Senate, his Republican rival (an idiot named Jack Ryan) had a Republican staffer follow Obama all around the Illinois statehouse with a videocamera. The whole scenario was so absurd that even the Republicans disowned their candidate (Jack Ryan, at the time was married to the actress named Jeri Ryan ('Star Trek: Voyager' and 'Shark'), and he had stated the desire to have a film made of him and Jeri having sex and then selling that film on the open market). When even a straight arrow like McCain is treated with disdain by the right wing twits, one has to wonder to which plane of existence the right-wing has chosen to move.
Beautiful overview of the Right Wing Slime Machine, Mr. Tomorrow! Even though, in this case, a few news services investigated and debunked the story, it's already become part of the common wisdom for nearly everyone in the US.
Have they ever found out which individuals created and perpetrated the smear? Is anyone looking?
It's time for all Democratic candidates to expand their "War Rooms" to include investigators and litigators. When something like this comes up, it's not sufficient to merely respond nor even to debunk - the perps need to be identified AND SUED. Republicans like to sneer how "trial lawyers" favor the Democrats, so bring them on.
The Democratic Party needs to start recruiting talent and raising money to defeat the "rat-f***ers" in the courts. Expose them, sue them, jail them when you can. Drag their sorry tales through the meatgrinder of our legal system, and keep on doing it until it stops.
If there's no cost for pulling this kind of thing, it will never end.
