'Democrats' need not worry
Their communications are not being targeted. It is those in genuine opposition to the policies of this government who will be the target of domestic spying.
The Democrats are rhetorical opponents only. As such, the Dems don't care much. They know good and well that any targeted actions will be directed against genuine opponents of this government - not its most important political props.

red herring inundation
Maybe every American should select several words from a NSA hot item menu and use them randomly in every phone conversation and email.
For example, "terrorist" "bin Laden" "car bomb" "Zarqawi" "explosives" "secret service" "hijack" "reactor" "plutonium" "tomorrow is zero hour" etc.
Just sprinkle them throughout your routine eletronic correspondance.
Lucy--chocolates--assembly line. You get the picture.
