Those annoying old tattoos.

The letters thread is now closed.

This is the hollow cartoon / This is the stuffed cartoon / leaning together / Headpiece filled with straw. Opus!

Not with a bang but a simper.

I have to say....

If only our nation would be as easy to restore as restoring flesh inked. If our prestige internationally could be zapped back into cleanliness but sad to say, the metaphor got stretched a bit in the comic.

Whining

Geez, all people ever seem to do is complain about Opus. I look forward to reading the strip every week, myself. If you hate it so much, why keep reading it?

No, what's even funnier is....

Geez, all people ever seem to do is complain about Opus. I look forward to reading the strip every week, myself. If you hate it so much, why keep reading it?

Really, how silly, I mean, can you imagine having so little to do that you end up reading something each week that you don't like, and then, to boot, writing to complain about it?

Oh wait. Of course you can. You just did.

Saturday, October 20, 2007 07:39 PM

Actually, it's not the same thing at all...

I turn to Opus each week expecting to like it. I read the letters columns with no expectations either way. Some letters are worth reading, others are not. I don't know which are which until I read them. The whiners know that they don't like Opus, yet they continue to read it, and continue to complain.

Moreover, Mr. Breathed provides something of value, which we enjoy for free (or I enjoy it, at least). The haters who complain about Opus provide nothing of value, and needlessly insult a talented artist. I consider that more than a waste of time. And I consider it worth my time to defend a strip that I find thoroughly enjoyable.

Hey visitor48

Notice that the guy who replied to you (nonsensically, I might add) was cowering behind Anonymous.

So you know how much weight to give his (her?) comment.

Would you like a little cheese with that whine, Visitor 48?

Seems to me, you are the only one whining around here.

Saturday, October 20, 2007 09:18 PM

OK I'll be the idiot who asks

Who TF *is* that in his tattoo? That picture is not recognizable to me. Or is it just "generic bad pol?"

Ack

so glad to see Bill the Cat peeking out over the ass crack in the last frame! Bill the Cat for President in '08!

I often think about citizens tattooed by having voted for Bush.

Bush is the alleged Christian who substituted turning the other cheek for shocking and awe-ing the wrong country, the alleged conservative who doubled our national debt, the alleged compassionate conservative who made rich people richer and poor people poorer, and WWIII-global-war-on-terror guy, who won't even pay for his beloved war or institute a draft so that we'll have enough troops. But Bush is the president because people voted for him and so those people also own the quagmire in Iraq, the monstrous debt, and so on. Of course, they won't pay this debt. Tens of millions of Republicans, young and old, like their dear leader once did, slink from military duty and dance a little jig that the war debt is being transferred to children. But still they voted for him and they are forever marked as not knowing the difference between a Christian who loves his enemies and a vengence-seeker who can't even finger the proper country. When you voted for Bush, you voted for vengence, which might make some sense if you didn't also assert that you're a values voter, an alleged fan of the turn-the-cheek and forgive-your-enemies guy.

Golly Molly

Gary Owen- I say: Blue Cheese and stale Nabisco's cracker for you.

Anonymous must sit in suspense all week. The simper things he writes must drives Opus to get drunk. Poor Opus, next he'll go visit the Salon/Personal Section in the lower left hand corner of the front page, looking desperately for a Canadian Goose to date: (I just looked at the site for the first time and 'hit' Nova Scotia- I was shocked!) Shame Salon.

_

[?] Opus may go get a democratic Tattoo of a new name love: Maybe* Blue Cheese, bubblegum lips, birdie bent, Salon Kama Sutra, ladybirdlove, or Berkeley Breathed- who knows? BB?

Opus is as fickle as Anonymous. Opus and Anonymous people always feel better because they always beg to be pricked by someone else pointy pin. They Tattoo different things. One day a boy, a girl, a mule, a donkey, a bunny, or picture of a friendly elephant tail or nose. They love their tail-end Tabooed with a yellow flapping butterfly.

Opus will probably be back at Laser Lucy's for another Tattoo next week. He needs to feel a bit better. If Opus isn't careful, he'll have a prison pardner do a Tattoo. Those homemade Bobbie pin hat tattoos are smarts and in style in liberal jails. A sewing needle is dipped into Blue ink. Each hand, and each finger, including the big thumb, get pricked with pen-ink and gets a different letter below each five knuckles:

{*} Opus will have this On The Right hand- I. LOVE.

(?) Opus mill request this insignia on The Left hand- G.OWEN.

The 2-thumbs- get- I.G.-

IG stands for: Inspector General of The GBW-No Aristotle.

Blue Cheese? If ya's got another "something" that can appear as a thumb. Owen? Well?

G.O.- You heard about the guy in the d'Nam who lost both hands? Well, remember it was Anonymous who was the platoon Sgt.. Anonymous got confused in combat. He's shoot anybody that moved and didn't freeze. Anonymous yelled to a NKG-

(new f'er guy) Hands Up into the sky! During a firefight, that's a bad idea. Well when you lost both hands in a gun battle, and have no fingers left, ya's got to learn to use the thumb between the legs for counting pocket change, hand shaking, geese hunting, and keyboarding. One even has to use a fork and spoons with the last "thumb" ya's got. Sound dumb? Yes, but...what else can one do? O, For fun- have Anonymous Tattoo that one, and only thumb Left- Golly Molly? or dumb. Annoying.

mouse head?

actually there is something worse than a hated tattoo

We actually CAN answer the chubby tatoo man's nonrhetorical question:

There are a few things I can think of worse(beyond annoying) than a hated (regretted) tattoo:

Abu Ghriab and Gonzalez's torture policy

Lying, cheating, stealing to get a once-great nation into an oilprofit war.

An idiotic national electorate.

Fox News Anything and the death of Good Polular Journalism

45% of the US population living uninsured.

The Rich getting richer because the poor are getting poorer.

Nuclear Weaponry carelessly flown about and mishandled.

Global Warming Denial.

Darfur Denial.

Noone we know even caring about Peace and Justice in Palestine- especially Presidential candidates.

A criminally compliant Democratic Congress.

Capitalist dismissal of Malthus and common sense.

Dick Cheney's Smirking, self-satisfied mug in the history books encaptioned "Vice President of the United States"

Now,

"W" in Bill the Cat's tighty whiteys on Opus's considerable rump- that I could live with in comparison.
