Opus

The terrorists have followed us home!

The letters thread is now closed.

Love it

Bush = Dear Leader.

Great!

The Dear Leader

Is a paranoid jerk, who scared us into self-surveillance. Watch out, Berkeley, they're watching you...and that penguin; not a joke anymore-you'll probably end up on the "no-fly list" for just having done this one.

The Feds don't have a sense of humor.

Trust me, they really don't, and they're proud of it. Ask any one of them.

But a good comic anyway.

You can never go home again....

And some cartoons were better left never inked again.

Saturday, October 6, 2007 11:00 PM

Nice pic of Cheney

You think he'll be calling Berke out of the shower to request the original?

Saturday, October 6, 2007 11:01 PM

You Do Realize

that every comment on this this thread will be of deep interest to DHS drones.....

They will track you, they will no fly you, they will find your ssn and trace you.

And that's ok.

'cuz the dolt in the white house and his evil minions/masters are keeping everybody safe.

This One Approaches the Best of "Bloom County"

Very funny and very pertinent! I loved the way Bill the Cat sloooowly disappeared to be replaced by a picture of Cheney, who makes Spiro Agnew look like Teddy Roosevelt. Great stuff!!

Sunday, October 7, 2007 05:10 AM

Opus waxes?

Now that's some true metro-manlitude!

Sunday, October 7, 2007 05:17 AM

Binkini Wax on Feathers?

The joke was great, except it's too bad he had to use Opus for the punchline because that's the only character he could get away with having bikini wax on his body that way. Obviously it would have made more sense with a human character, but no way is the crotch wax on a human figure going to fly.

Sunday, October 7, 2007 05:46 AM

Great Strip, Sadly True

Very funny, and I suspect closer to truth than we probably want it to be.

Sunday, October 7, 2007 05:47 AM

The "Bikini Wax"

Looks like purple leeches.

Sunday, October 7, 2007 07:22 AM

Oh, there's that cute little penguin again

Oh look, he's got his cute little flowery shower cap on and he's waving his little back-scrubbing brush. It's so gosh-darn cute!

And look, in the background, there's a picture of Dick Cheney! My gosh. Honest to pete, I don't know how Berk gets away with such daring stuff, tweaking our government like that. You better watch out Berk, you're probably being watched, tee hee hee!

And get this, he actually tangentially referred to the president as "Dear Leader." This is sure to get him a phone call from DHS! I don't know how Berk gets away with being so bold! He's fearless!

Well, I'll tell you what, this cartoon is going make America wake up and take notice, I'll betcha.

Sunday, October 7, 2007 07:57 AM

It always feels like somebody's watching me

My son is always going on about the government watching us. He's only half kidding. A couple of months ago he came home from paint balling, swearing that a white SUV with black windows was parked watching them and then eventually drove away. It's spooky but we try to laugh it off. I mean what else can you do?

Sunday, October 7, 2007 08:36 AM

Why not just run Luann or Cathy?

They're about as edgy as this.

Sunday, October 7, 2007 09:44 AM

Funny!

Perfect, again.

How about a daily strip????!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sunday, October 7, 2007 09:53 AM

Uhm, suggestion box?

Utterly predictable, boring, low-brow inanity.

No, I don't mean Opus, I'm referring to Garry Owen.

Do we really have to see his comments in every thread, repeating the same obnoxious rants every single week? Bad for morale, what.

Sunday, October 7, 2007 10:27 AM

Fly? Who wants too?

that every comment on this this thread will be of deep interest to DHS drones.....

I still fly. However I haven't been able to browse eBay for alternate cell phones all weekend. (I have at&t. The 'warm and fuzzy' death star)

Sunday, October 7, 2007 10:38 AM

What rights?

Speaking of Bush, what was the most disturbing thing about the woman who was tackled by four fed cops at the airport who later "died" (some would call it killed) was that Bush completely defended what these apes did. This was a mother of three children, for crying out loud, who was upset about missing her flight. When did this turn into a police state? The people of this country have no rights anymore. The government wants assimilation and non-thinkers who don't know enough to stand up for what is legally theirs... at least, what used to be theirs.

We're going to be telling our children and grandchildren stories of the past, when life was better, when there was a democracy, and the individual had rights, when the Constitution really meant something, instead of being used as toilet paper.

Sunday, October 7, 2007 10:46 AM

@ Garry Owen

Your post is rather full of bile, and I sometimes sort of like this strip, but I also agree with your criticism of it pretty often, and I certainly do this week.

Sunday, October 7, 2007 11:15 AM

The strip is fine, but please fix the headline!

For the love of Pete, the plural of "terrorist" is "terrorists."

This has been up on Salon's home page all day. Will somebody please snap the proofer with a non-lethal wet towel?

Sunday, October 7, 2007 11:47 AM

Big Brother, Indeed!

The finest examples of dictatorships are those that are not imposed, but that arrive quietly and, in the name of "security", subtly take away the freedoms of their populations, who love them for it. Well done, BB! Not even showers are safe any more (will they next impose a "no-shower" rule for black-listed individuals?)!

Sunday, October 7, 2007 12:21 PM

Hell

I thought "The terrorist have followed us home" was something Bush had said, and I'd just missed it, a la "The childrens are learning."

Garry: What the other Anonymous said, and besides, that was too easy, Penguin-Hating Dude.

SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO LET IT PASS

Whenever you can't come up with a, decent probable situation to ridicule the ridiculous, it's best to let inane comments made by our leader pass without comment.

Sunday, October 7, 2007 04:49 PM

You suck at this

It's supposed to be funny and you're not even quaint.

What does it say about this week's strip that all the letters are about this quote?

Monday, October 8, 2007 04:38 AM

It's a Lenny Bruce quote

http://tinyurl.com/2lrb4x

Filipinos come quick; colored men are buil[t] abnormally large (“Their wangs look like a baby’s arm with an apple in its fist”); ladies with short hair are lesbians; if you want to keep your man, rub alum on your pussy.

Such bits of erotic folklore were related daily to my mother by Mrs. Janesky...
