Who are these people in these polls?

  • I think we have a right to be smug...

given the fact that your president turned out to be wrong about EVERYTHING. Of course I didn't see a whole lot of humility coming out of the right after the Clinton/Lewinski mess.

  • "I doubt you'd do worse than hack up a few hairballs on the Oval Office rug."

What??? And destroy the dignity brought back to the White House?

    Oh, wait...

  • Classic sunday style

I'll skip the actual subject and again call out Breathed's cartoonist brilliance. Opus has a whole little story of his own behind the conversation:

    • Opus, in mask and snorkel, takes point on the boat
    • Opus submerges his head
    • Opus comes up with a company of frogs

What exactly just happened there? What's Opus thinking behind that mask?

Thanks goodness someone's keeping up the classic art of a Sunday comic.

  • Am I the only one disturbed by this?

Not the point of this week's strip; that's old hat. Not the customary poke-at-convention behavior our beloved Opus engages in. Not even the abnormally restrained manner of Steve.

What disturbs me the most, what chills my very soul, is the sudden reappearance of Lola Granola!

Has she returned for good? Will she and Opus take back up where they left off?

Are Bobbi Harlow and Ronald-Ann Smith waiting in the wings? What of Cutter John, Hodge-Podge, and Portnoy?

I'm of two minds for the return of all our favorites. Right now I'm just enjoying Opus's stumbling along alone in this horrid and confusing new world we live in. Still, it'd be nice to see the rest of the gang, eh?

  • Missing the daily dose

Ah, if only this were a daily and we could see Bill and Opus on the campaign trail, or Cutter John planning his balloon wheelchair trip. Mr. Breathed, I love your comic, but a lot is lost when its only a Sunday.

  • ... talks at last?

If “oop ack!” is not considered “talking,” I’m not sure why “oo! oo!” would be. But for the record, Bill the Cat did once say “meow.” In the following panel, Opus said “Chirp. I say, chirp.” This was back when they were Boingers (or perhaps the band was still being called “Deathtöngue” at that time). Those were the days.

  • The First Panel?

How comes no ones made note of the fact that the sky in the back ground of the first panel is actually a blurry American flag, much like what we see on the back drops at the presidential debates?

Berke, I thought that was classy.
