And they walk off into the pale cold morning.......

YESSSSS!

The insanity is over!

We can dance on the grave of this sucker now.

Oh, and was I first to post? I have so wanted to be first to hate on this strip, ever since it's started. Oh, I do hope I was first, on this, its last week in existence.

Once again, Hallelujah!

Buh-Bye, Kansas!

(holds up right hand supported by left and waves wildly from the wrist like Granny on the Beverly Hillbillies)

Bye-bye, Toni! Bye-bye, Tom! Bye-bye, Tinky-Winky!

Coming next week: The Adventures of Alerto

she died as she lived

Inanely.

Inarticulately.

Inaptly drawn.

Inappropriately.

Alright, Salon, you've shown you have excreble taste in webcomics.

Can you redeem yourself? Can you show less scorn for one the truly outstanding artforms of the 21st century?

I dare you to pick up a strip by a talented young cartoonist who actually knows what she is doing. Who loves the medium and has a decent story to tell with it.

Not a poseur picking up the flavor-of-the-month and injecting it with apathetic hipsterisms.

Our long, dark, national nightmare is over...

...and I, for one, hope that Salon will be moved to explain why it took so long. I suppose I can forget about an apology.

Now we can get back to current affairs. They tell me that a black man and a woman are running for president this year-- has anybody else heard that rumor?

NOW WAIT A MINUTE

you mean you dont like kanses

Mocking Us

A cliffhanger in the last panel holding out the promise of....

The Secret of the Universe, no less?

awww, c'mon guys, see what we're missing.....!

SO glad this is done. I don't have to hate on it anymore.

Of course, it's a mixed blessing, because now all it leaves me with is the rape enablers commenting over at Broadsheet.

Maybe a good cartoon will come on Tuesdays. Just a thought? I mean, we could get behind a good cartoon, we don't have to bond over a horrible one.

I mean, this whole experience was....ugh. Really. An audience does not like to be mocked. And that's what was happening, every week. Not good.

Monday, March 3, 2008 07:22 PM

Am I missing something?

Why are people saying this is over? I don't see anything saying it is over.

Strip of the Living Dumb

the zombie that will not die...

Monday, March 3, 2008 07:49 PM

Copyright 2007?

I just noticed the "Copyright 2007" notice on the title panel, which raises all sorts of questions... the obvious first being, "Why bother?" (As if anyone would bother pirating it! Toni and Tom probably copyright their turds, too.) The second: are Toni and Tom simply too lazy to change the date? (After all, they are too lazy to write, draw, letter, plot, etc.) Or, most intriguing of all: did they actually turn in the entire run of the strip in 2007? Which would mean that our intrepid Salon editors have know all along what a pile this so-called comic is; what, then, justified running it?

Monday, March 3, 2008 07:49 PM

"Am I missing something?"

Someone wrote in to Salon...the rumour is that the strip will be cancelled in March.

Monday, March 3, 2008 07:57 PM

NO SALON DONT STOP KANSES!

since last week this is my favorite comix. she is like eon flux but much nicer. she deserves better than shlomo because in jewish that is penis i think. kanses has a small pet dog with magic pow4rs. im going to get all the dvds NO DONT CANCEL!!!!

Monday, March 3, 2008 08:39 PM

Wait, I get it.

This is Salon's answer to Lost.

Monday, March 3, 2008 08:43 PM

over?

Can anyone provide a link or something that shows us the glimmer of hope that this strip might be canceled?

Monday, March 3, 2008 09:34 PM

How many chickens and how many eggs?

The month of March has just begun, so while the cancelation rumours may be true this may or may not be the last week. While it is possible that they are pulling a Twin Peaks on us and ending the strip on a cliffhanger that will never be resolved (only during Twin Peaks I actually gave a crap), I suspect that this is not the last we have seen of KOF.

Monday, March 3, 2008 10:44 PM

I had the correspondence with Salon

I wrote to them asking them just to cancel the balance of my Premium membership. The reason I offered was that I no longer wished to be associated with any webzine that continued to insult its readers so blatantly, week in, week out. I got a response saying, in part, "Also, if it makes a difference, the Kansas cartoons will be discontinued in March."

IF??? Hell yeah, it makes a difference. I wrote back requesting the date of the last strip and was told on Friday, The last KOF cartoon will run 3/4. There will be one more cartoon. After that we are dropping her.

So that's what we have, and it comes from a staffer.

I just noticed: no "Anonymous" option as I compose this! VERY interesting.

Monday, March 3, 2008 10:46 PM

One for the rumor mill

In the spirit of KOF, Joan Walsh and Glenn Greenwald are going to team up to create a new web video series for adolescent girls called “Oklahoma Melendez, Girl Senator.” Featuring the Capitol Hill adventures of a smart and resourceful 12-year-old, it's designed to keep hope alive for all the young girls out there whose hopes and dreams will be dashed by seeing Hillary go down in flames.

Monday, March 3, 2008 10:53 PM

Anonymous?

Do any of you still see "publish anonymously" as an option when composing letters? I just checked and I don't, not here, not anywhere.

Instead, I have a single line that informs me in no uncertain terms, "Your letter will be signed with your screen name: Kahomono"

Just me? Is this my payback for hating KOF so completely? Or is it all of us? And once again, like this piece of sh!t non-comic, it just "happens." No communication, no discussion, not even a lame justification....

Monday, March 3, 2008 11:12 PM

Finally...

The toilet gets flushed? Need we hold our noses no longer? I can only hope it's true. I intend to have the forks removed from my eyes this week, so it had better not return.

Schlesinger, Bachtell: Your work on this strip was utterly unredeemable excrement. I would say you should be ashamed of yourselves, but you are obviously without shame.

As for anonymous signatures not being allowed anymore, that was both announced and explained.
