Welcome Back, Ms. Lay!
You wouldn't believe the louse who took your space last week. We had to fumigate.
-
Good, she's back and weird
Good to see Carol is back. Same excellent ink style, same clever set-up, same "WTF" in the end.
Glad to have it back. Salon membership will not be dumped.

Whew.
That's better.
-
Huh
Never been much of a fan, but will NEVER be a fan of the crap they ran instead of you.
-
Uh...
... sorry, but, who said that Carol Lay was leaving in the first place?
And who said that Kansas O'Flaherty was her replacement? Is there any reason not to assume that Salon has simply had the good fortune to pick up yet another strip, and has decided to take advantage of the opportunity to rearrange the schedule a little bit?
I mean, pardon me if there was some big headline article and I just happened to miss it, but I'm having a hard time understanding where all this angst and vitriol is coming from. If Waylay had been leaving for good, surely Joan Walsh or someone else with Salon would have said something. Right? We don't invent complex conspiracy theories when simple explanations are adequate?
Or is that me being naively reality-based again?
-
I would love Carol if she were a Siamese twin
Both? of her?
-
"Uh... ... sorry, but, who said..."
Nobody said anything. None of the readers know what's going on with the comics because Salon hasn't told us and nobody knows why they haven't. That's the reality.
Kansas will be easy to skip, but if it turns out it's replacing Carol, that will be hard to swallow.
Salon, why not respond to all the questions and confusion and just let us know what you're doing?
-
Excellent
It's easy to forget how much skill it takes to produce a decent strip, but now that Salon has reminded us all with that other thing, I take back any previous kevetching about Lay. Her drawings are a pleasure to read and her stories are consistently amusing.
-
better
Kansas O'Stupid has bought WayLay a temproary reprieve from my griping. I still don't "get" WayLay much, but it's at least professional in its not gettableness.

Anonymous on nobody saying anything
...Salon hasn't told us and nobody knows why they haven't...
Salon ran a new comic on Tuesday and ran Waylay in the old slot once occupied by the late lamented Dark Hotel. Their chronologically-ordered comics page links were rearranged accordingly.
If it helps, imagine a tiny red line that reads "Kansas O'Flaherty is our new Tuesday comic, and Waylay is moving to Friday." Ici n'est ce-pas un message.
What else? You want them to apologize for the inconvenience to your schedule? Seriously — what about this is hard to understand?
