actually, back in World War Two....

one of the specialty tanks built for the Normandy invasion was a vehicle known as the 'flail tank'; this was a tank designed to flail the ground before it with hundreds of heavy chains so as to detonate any land mines in the tank's path

apparently, none of the many subcontractors of Halliburton has figured out a way to make an obscene amount of money by reusing this old idea

when the virginia tech tragedy happened . . .

. . . it did occur to me that such a level of carnage occurs every day in Iraq. Unlike the previous poster, I do believe that man is more civilized that he used to be. Like the previous poster, it seems to me we have quite a way yet to go.

Oh wow...

the local wing-nut authoritarian cultist are going to accuse Carol of being defeatist, or an islamogenarian or something. Keeps them off the streets I guess.

War is hideous, but it seems too many see it as a personal ego trip. Very, very sad how little the human race progresses.
