That is what it is called and it is carefully planned and has been a long term project initiated in the 1980s using news media and the entertainment industry to program people to prey upon each other.
Remember, "Miami Vice"? Great way to market an entire lifestyle to kids watching tv. At the same time the white house was used as a base for drug smuggling first to Homestead Airforce Base in Florida and then to Mena Arkansas, with Clinton working with Bush as partners in crime.
I don't think the pictures will do any good as much worse passes for entertainment and psychopathy is now the new norm of mental health. (no pills to treat it i guess so it is OK)
People do not care anymore. Last night a drunk was threatening people at the local shopping center outside of a shoe store. I asked the manager to call the cops before someone got hurt. Five minutes later I asked her if she had called them and she said no so I went next door and had that manager call the cops and he did. When I went back out, the beligerent drunk had taken up residence in the shoe store where he remained until the police came about 25 minutes later. The manger of the shoe store decided to call for help when it was her problem. Otherwise she didn't care one bit about someone threatening people in front of her store.
People will not care until it is a family member or a friend who is killed and then that really doesn't do any good. The democrats and republicans and their corporate masters have flushed america down the tubes. Enjoy the free fall.
I feel where you're coming from with your pictures idea, Keef...
But I just don't think it will work.
As long as so many members of the black community view "snitching" - i.e. daring to give the police tips/info to help stop/capture those who murder these black kids - as something despicable and worthy of death in itself, the slaughter of young black males will continue unabated.
As long as decent people have to fear for their (and their friends'/family's) lives and well-being for "snitching", nothing will change.
The black community ultimately has to decide what is more important - a code of secrecy/"honor" that involves not working with (white?) cops to help solve homicides...or the lives of their youth.

Publishing the pictures for "all the world to see" may have a psychological effect on outsiders...
But the brutal reality is that the ONLY people who are in a position put a stop to black-on-black crime/homicide is the black community itself.
How powerful would it be if, say, Kanye or Jay-Z spearheaded such an effort? How much influence could Michael Strahan, Kobe Bryant, Shaq et al wield?? Think about it...
Not the idea, the responses to the idea. I couldn't agree with you more Keith. If that doesn't shock people, at least it would stop them from lying to themselves that it isn't really happening, or it isn't so bad, or that it's cool. Same way they should be more graphic with war pictures. A few serious sucking head wounds and cambat might not be so attractive.
I saw this at Sundance and it is a pretty powerful work (if in need of a few cuts). Seek it out if it manages to get some distribution or shows up on cable.
You really cannot blame them, in washington dc snitches and witnesses get killed.
The police are not there to protect people and some people actually realize that so why cooperate when all you are doing is putting a target on your chest. How many people have good experiences with law enforcement versus how many have had bad experiences with law enforcement?
People have been taught to act this way. Why?
Maybe it is because america has been taught to be the biggest and baddest thug on the block.
As above, so below.
The real criminals are in the white house and congress and they are much bigger fish..
But the cops already hand them out to the press like trophies.
...since I'm not black, and the idea that I might have a voice in this matter is so offensive to other people that I couldn't even try. Nonetheless...some associated thoughts.
At one time in a major Texas city, so I am told, the most popular news show ran after the Sunday night news. It was nothing but coverage of the most spectacular, bloody traffic accidents of the past week. It became the template for modern local news.
However, that template has been visually skewed. It's primarily crimes done by blacks, not necessarily to them. The cameras show the perp walks and booking photos, gladly provided by the police, but avert their eyes at the victims and the blood to be "tasteful." About as close to "graphic" as they get is the occasional shot of the sobbing mother or widow, with no indication as to why she is crying so heavily.
Instead of wrap-ups of sports on Sunday night - the "Sports Machine" types of shows - perhaps after the Sunday news, showing the kind of graphic violence Mr. Knight suggests might do what he suggests. It would take re-education of news directors and photographers, as to what is "appropriate" to show, but I think it would be a hit.
Only problem is, what would you call a show with dead and mutilated black people? Who could come up with a title? Maybe we should ask the person who's about to do the Family Guy spinoff entitled Cleveland, about the passive and cliched black neigbor of Peter Griffin - that expert on the African-American experieince, Seth McFarlane.
I got it when I was teaching inmates, and a student said to me, just kind of casually, "The third time I got shot in the head..."
Where he came from being shot but not killed was just an every day thing. Getting killed was pretty common, too.
