Um, Anonymous...
...and although I have no real beef with you, whenever I see the name "Anonymous" in the letter column I read "COWARD"...
WHAT night life in San Diego? The town is conservative as hell! The sidewalks are rolled up at 9 PM. If you get out of the con after 10 PM you have to eat at a 7-11. (Which I and my friend were forced to do two years ago.) A town that is reportedly a Navy port has no nightclubs, no topless places, no X-rated theatres and no dance clubs. There's a bail bondsman on almost every street corner, but there's nothing you can do in San Diego that you would need a bail bondsman for!
Besides, Comic-Con can't move to LA. There isn't a civic center big enough to hold it there. The only place they can move it within realistic distance of Hollowwood is Las Vegas. Dallas is a distant second. Both are places that have housed the biggest conventions in the country, and who know better than to pull the extortion crap that the San Diego hotels do.
For me and my friend, the cost/benefit and pain/benefit ratios of Comic-Con are too far gone.

Why do you think high-rise condo living is so popular? The developers can't build enough of 'em!
