the hubby and i were just discussing how our nieces and nephews don't get to just watch creature features, or explore the nooks and crannies of your own neighborhood or your own yard??
As a recent urban transplant to a small town - and as a minority who may be mistaken for Arab or Hispanic (even though I'm neither) - instead of "making new friends/allies", I just get stared at a lot with looks of confusion and/or hostility.
Damn - I miss summer in the City. =(
When I was a kid I spent whole days in the public library, plowing through one book after another in a trancelike state. It was wonderful!
Those were the days before parents thought that the summertime experience required taking out another loan. We explored the woods, dad taught us how to make hydrogen-filled balloons with a coke bottle filled with lye and aluminum, and we found berry patches down by the river. Go Keith!
