I'm sure there's a point to this...

I just wish I knew what it was...

Who kidnapped Ruben Bolling?

We're a long way from "The Twelve Labors of Bob", Ruben.

Glenn is going to fire you

For insufficient fervor

Wednesday, May 6, 2009 08:31 PM

Are you doing an audition

for Tim & Eric?

Wednesday, May 6, 2009 09:08 PM

This is the funniest..

..cartoon I've read/seen in a long while. There's no point, but I think that's the point. Love the "awkward".

Wednesday, May 6, 2009 09:37 PM

I don't get it at all, but

I laughed my ass off at the last panel anyway. Wherefore art thou, Ruben?

Thursday, May 7, 2009 04:06 AM

I don't get it either, but ...

I wasn't going to say anything, because it looks like one of those things that only the "hip" can get, and admitting that you don't get it is tantamount to admitting that you're "unhip".

And maybe that's the point. Emperor's new clothes?

Or maybe I'm totally "unhip".

Keep up the attitude...

And they'll bring back Kansas O'Flaherty! I mean it.

And I don't get the TDB, either, but I sort of understand the James Caan's Ghost advice - sometimes ya gotta be in a good movie, even if the rest suck. Right?

Thursday, May 7, 2009 05:39 AM

Had hoped to be the first to admit...

...that I don't "get" it. O, well too late for that. I'm hoping my lack of understanding is a result of my not bothering to spend much time on popular culture - the other kind of culture is soooooo much more interesting.

Thursday, May 7, 2009 06:10 AM

wtf?

I guess I am too clued out...I have no idea what this was about.

Thursday, May 7, 2009 06:14 AM

Please see

The Cary Tennis column today

Since you asked ...I got canned for being drunk...or high or not funny or somthing.

Thursday, May 7, 2009 06:33 AM

Oh! I get it!

Zac Efron is like a young James Caan...

Or James Cann is dead, NOT...

Or Kate Hudson is a cougar...

Wait... no, forget it. I don't get it. Not sure I weven want to. Stick to politics or other funny things, Reuben. Celebrity shenanigans- not funny, just sad.

@"I don't get it"

You're thinking too much.

Just relaaax...

Thursday, May 7, 2009 08:36 AM

Hilarious,

just hilarious! Thanks for the laughs.

Thursday, May 7, 2009 08:47 AM

per Ruben's blog...

Ghost of James Caan is his new favorite character. I may be missing some subtle references perhaps (don't know much about Efron except that he's having his moment as a teen idol) but this didn't keep me from laughing most of the way through. Even when I don't "get it" 100% I still enjoy it 90+%. Don't give up on Bolling, or assume that he's now a replicant or something, just because you don't "get" or even "like" one of his strips. Just my advice (file appropriately).

@Little John

Keep up the attitude...

And they'll bring back Kansas O'Flaherty! I mean it.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

Thursday, May 7, 2009 09:30 AM

Hilariously bizarre

I've missed this side of Ruben Bolling lately. A+++

Thursday, May 7, 2009 10:36 AM

I got it. Totally.

This reminded me of some underground comic books I have from the early 70's. They would often have stories like this. They didn't make much sense either, but I think that was the point. The intent was to destroy audience expectations with a kind of stream of consciousness reality that was almost wholly made up from panel to panel.

This comic is logical, as long as you don't apply any rules of logic to it.

I thought it was hilarious.

bad day

No, this is just a cartoonist having a bad day. Or week, or whatever. Though I do get a kick from the high-minded folks who defend it as a slate cleaner for future gags.

Lay off the weed, Ruben.

More surreal than usual

But I love me some Dancing Bug. Absurdity is good b/c life is often absurd.
