exactly
Seriously - has anyone seen a logical explanation for why congress is spending time with Clemens etc?

Harlem Globetrotters
I saw that game too when I was a kid. What made me suspicious was when the Trotters formed a kind of circle under the basket and they just kept the ball going around and around, then up through the basket, then around again, over and over and racked up a quick 20 points that way. I didn't think you could do something like that, but they did it.
As to Roger Clemens, how stupid can he be? Hasn't he learned by now the lessons of Alberto Gonzales? All he has to do is keep saying "I can't remember" or "It's our contention that the Founding Fathers' primary objective was to cede all power to an untouchable unitary executive branch" or "I don't have an answer for you at this time, but I can have one for you by 2112."
Say things like that and congress will thank you for your service to the country, and then talk about how it's a shame that partisan politicians have put aside the important business of the country in order to pursue this obviously pointless line of inquiry, which can only serve to increase the political rancor in the country.
In other words, I agree with the "Exactly" person above. Why is congress spending their time on this?

Washinton Journal, a mouth for the GOP
After Bush was appointed President, Brian Lamb changed the format of Washington Journal to give repubs about twice as much time on Washington Journal as dems get. Exmple one: Members of the bush cabinate and whitehouse people appear on Washington Journal, sometime several times a week, but dems get zero time to give their side of the issue. Example two: often, two or three times a week, one dem will be matched against two repubs. Example three: yesterday the referances were Wall Street Jourenal and Washingtron Times. Washington Journal is about as fair and balanced as you know who.

@ Tideswimmer
They are spending time on this to distract us from the fact that they are failing dismally in every other aspect of their job. Billions missing in Iraq? War still going on? Largest asset bubble in memory bursting? Our government spying on us? The Constitution shredded? Don't worry, Congress is on the case, just as soon as we finish with this football coach thingy.

don't discount the MSM
My business runs CNN in the lobby, and CNN has been running this crap seemingly 24/7 as well. It makes me miss all the car chases and missing blond women.

You can't out ESPN ESPN
ESPN has become (if it ever was not) a haven for screechy ManBoyGirls who yell and shout and talk fake smack to each other and pretend to be outraged over literally everything everywhere all the time. The only two people vaguely interesting are Woody Hayes and Max Kellerman. Everyone else should just wear a thong and be on The View.

Don't worry...
I'm sure once Brittney gets out of rehab they'll stop reporting on this and go back to her!
And BookTV can go back to pretending people like Ann Coulter and Laura Ingram have actual observatins on the state of the country!
