Why do the words "Captain America" keep coming into my mind?
In Nicolas Freeling's "The Long Silence" the detective, Piet Van der Valk, actually does get killed halfway through the book. Talk about a shocker! Talk about a page you had to read two, three times, asking yourself "did that really happen?"
(Of course, Freeling's no fool. He already had a new detective character up and running in a completely different series. But still...)
This one really made me laugh out loud.
Peter, I couldn't have said it better myself...
Next thing you know they'll bump off God-man.
Now I can cross The Long Silence off my to-read list. Thanks!
there's still the second half...
can't apologize too much for 'spoiling' the plot of a 35-year old novel, though...
