• Loves His Job

  You can tell that Bolling loves comics and drawing comics as he pays homage to (and lampoons) other strips. I'm particularly fond of Bolling's God-Man, a double send-up of super-hero comics and religion. It's nice to see a "political" cartoonist who regards the comics part at least as important as the politics part. It's an affection that reminds me of Los Bros. Hernandez work with "Love & Rockets."

• I'd love to see Super-Fun-Pak Comix in a book-length collection

  Ruben Bolling's consistently hilarious homage-by-way-of-parody of the conventions of comic strips deserves its own book. I'd buy a bunch of copies.
