  • That Was Very Interesting

[Read the article: Dick Cheney was never a "grown-up"]

I cannot recall an article that was both interesting and informative as this one about a man who is so reviled today, but seemingly cannot be touched by any means.

It is scarey to think that one person can create the kind of chaos that has bred the invasion of Iraq, torture, the destruction of the U.S. Constitution, and the denigration of our country's honor and reputation.

Where do men like this get off playing God to the rest of us? I have said for over 30 years that the Republican party secretly despises the middle class that it purports to protect with it's "law and order, bible-thumping, flag-waving" bunk. That if it could simply burn the U.S. Constitution in public, instead of slowly destroy it in secret, and get away with it, it wouldn't waste another minute doing so.

However, try to tell regular Americans that the likes of Cheney, Rumsfield, Bush, Rice, Wolfowitz, Perle, and the rest of their ilk are the reason why American may very well be in it's last days as a real, bonafide democracy.

  • WHY AMERICA NEEDS REAL LEADERSHIP

and not just another ideologue like McCain and Obama, who have absolutely nothing to contribute to the real discussion of "how did we get here and how are we getting out?"

McCain, in exchange for his own personal ambitions, is just too eager to become Bush's Mini-Me. He must have gotten a good deal. And Obama, in exchange for his own personal ambitions, and the ambitions of the left's version of the neo-cons, is running on this bi-partisan, uniter crap that was sold to us in 2000 by Karl Rove. If anyone thinks that the Republicans are going to suddenly grow a conscience and work with this guy, then there is over-priced Katrina swamp land in Mississippi waiting for you.

America needs an entire new Doctrine that doesn't piece-meal the serious issues facing our country to death, but rather in one fell swoop restores the balance of our country as a democracy as much as possible, and as quickly as possible.

We are not a country of extremes, as Cheney and his gang would have us be, and as Obama would have us become on the other side of the spectrum. We need real leadership, not more intellectual elitist bullshit.

  • HEY, WAKE UP...

there has NEVER been a Republican Party. Just smoke and mirrors, and new threats of the day to scare you over: McCarthyism and the Red Scare, the Soviet Union, nuclear war and fallout shelters, more Communism (damn, they were pissed when that wall fell and old Soviet Union collapsed under it's own spending weight!),Willie Horton and other minorities moving into the neighborhood, women with brains and ambtions, and now bin Laden.

Do you see a pattern here for the atleast the last 60-some years? That's not an ideology - it's a disease.

  • ANYONE...

[Read the article: The decline and fall of the American empire of debt]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

who recalled the junk bond fiasco, savings and loan joke of the 80's, and the cannabalism of American manufacturing jobs and assets in the 80's COULD NOT swerously believe in a Wall Street or the tooth fairy anymore.

I don't know half as much as Phillips, and lot of other people too. But I do know one thing: Wall Street has never been my friend - or a friend of the middle class. If George W. Bush, and the rest of his eog-maniacal nut cases, got their way, Social Security would have been privatized now - and gone!

And, along with pointing out how we got here, who do we hold responsible for the demise of our country's strength, power, and integrity?

  • WELL, SINCE THERE ARE NO LETTERS...

    [Read the article: TV Daily]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I guess no one thought much about it - or even bothered to watch it! I didn't watch it. I never watch the pageants. There are enough other shows on TV about hair, clothes, make-up, plastic surgery, implants, and otherwise negative crap to waste a woman's time with such trivial crap.

I mean, look at this country and the serious problems we are facing. Yet, entertainment shares the same space on news websites as the serious issues do. Since when is Brittany Spears' life worth the same to my attention span as, say, the fact I cannot afford retirement anymore?

  • OMG!

[Read the article: Hey, Obama boys: Back off already!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

It is Tuesday, April 15th and I just flipped to MSNBC while surfing and see there is a live spot of an Obama event, and this white, middle age man stands up and starts questioning the word "elistist." He then goes on to say that it's just short of the word "uppity" and that the "Clintons," not Hillary Clinton the candidate, but "the Clintons," were just that close to using the word "uppity, and going racial, but are substituting the word "elitist."

CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT GARBAGE FROM THIS OBVIOUSLY IGNORANT GUY WHO CLEARLY DOES NOT HAVE CLUE AS TO WHAT THE WORD "ELITIST" MEANS IN THE CONTEXT OF OBAMA'S REMARKS AT HIS WHITE, LIBERAL, ELITIST FUNDRAISER IN SAN FRANCISO.

The guy thinks it means "educated" as he goes on to say he wants an educated president of the United States. Will someone please tell him to shut up and sit down! And THIS is what is trying to get THAT in the White House!

    Obama is uppity.
