BARACK OBAMA CARNIVAL SHOW
[Read the article: Moving beyond Obama and race]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The campaign that is the Obama Carnival Show finally had a wheel come off the week of Reverend Wright's videos. And what did the talking heads conclude? That he was brilliant...yes, brilliant!
Well, here's what I concluded. Using his grandmother the way he did was disrespectful and crude. But, how I shall I put this, typical of most black men, it's easier to blame the dominant female in your life, isn't it? It pays as a female today to be weary of just about any man out there that we don't know - and more than a few of those we do know.
His grandmother wasn't standing on a street corner shouting out condemning America, criticizing others because they had never had the experience of being called a n*****, and attempting to influence hundreds of others in a leadership role, was she? Has Obama had the experience of being called a bitch or cunt or any other degrading word that females have endured from men, mostly their own men?
Obama had the responsibility to walk away from that church the moment its leader started going off on tirades that not only he "did not agree with," but also he knew to be destructive, morally questionable, and just plain wrong! As an educated man, Harvard no less, he could distinguish I guess. But what of the others in the congregation and his children? I don't think I want this guy in charge of my family values, thank you.
And does anyone think for one minute that Barack Obama would have given this speech IF HE HAD NOT HAD TO GIVE IT? Hell, no. Obama, his strategists, his wife, and the rest of them knew that if race was interjected into his campaign, he would lose support. Sorry, but that is the reality. Obama's speech wasn't nothing. We had better "raps" back in the days that went far beyond "my grandmother" kinds of crap.
Only in the Democratic party could so many be bamboozled by so few! The wealthy white liberals (who gave the word "liberal" such a bad name we had to get another word "progressive")started him off on his political path in Illinois, and have kept him there. The African centrist lefites helped to give him just enough street cred to be ocnsidered "one of us." The young people flocking in droves to the Carnival Show, well...what do they know?
I'm not interested in turning this country over to this collection of left-wing goofballs, and 20 year olds.

As Usual, Off On a Tangent You Go!
[Read the article: Rev. Jeremiah Wright isn't the problem]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I don't think the reaction to the Jeremiah Wright videos was about patriotism, Gary. It was a mixture of anger and disgust. For me, patriotism wasn't even there.
Guys like Wright use God to prop themselves up, give them wealth and status, and then power. They use that power, not to save lives, but to condemn those who are "not like us." They misuse their IRS tax-exemption and their positions to spread their poison and hatred.
Barack Obama needed to leave that church after he heard his spiritual leader say other damning and inaccurate things and find another one that didn't. I guess Mr. Harvard Educated Thang and his wife figured that it was okay for their kids to be around all this because, well, they were special and above-it-all anyway. Typical of people who pick their fights because they have other, more grandiose ambitions, they said and did nothing. Now, Mr. I-Got-The-Judgment wants us to believe that he does.
Sorry, dude, but if you don't know enough to leave a church when it preaches hatred, then you don't know enough to be Commander-in-Chief. Patriotism? Hardly.

Okay, Here Goes
[Read the article: Would you please get out of my swimming pool!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Do you and your husband talk about things before HE DOES THEM? If he had not extended open invitations to just about everyone before discussing it with you there would be no problems today. No one, absolutely no one, in their right mind tells people to just come over whenever they want to and run around our house!
That being said, it's time to risk the family grudge thing and have your husband tell Ms. Ungrateful Ill-Mannered Cousin that the "open invitation" has been revoked. He can lie if he has to and claim that so many people are coming over that he and you seldom ever have time for privacy.
If your husband refuses to deliver the news, and it sounds like he has, then you can simply, and calmly, tell him that you are going to revoke the open invitations as it is intruding on your privacy and well-being. Then tell her that she needs to start calling before she comes over...period. If she refuses, then you have to do some other things. When the dense don't want to get something, they don't seem to get it.
If that doesn't work, then tell the ingrate that your homeowner's insurance will no longer permit anyone swimming at the house without your being there. And seriously, I wonder what would happen if something happened to her or one of her kids? Would she sue you? Sounds to me like she would, claiming all along that it's not your money she's taking but the insurance companies' money.
Install a locked gate (it should have one anyway)and close off all entrances to the pool except through the house. Place a sign by the former entrance way and the front door that says "Due to liability, our pool rules now require the homeowner to be present and an advance request by all Guests and Family prior to use." If she climbs the fence, have her arrested for tresspassing.
And, yeah, place yellow crime scene tape and orange cones in front of the extra driveway parking spaces.
