Is There A Pink/White/Black/Brown divide?
[Read the article: Obama, Clinton and the black-brown divide]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I'm a white, middle aged female with a Masters Degree, although, sorry, not from Harvard or Yale or Brown or Cornell or Stanford or any other bastion of liberal elitism.
Let me just say a few things about the blah, blah, blah-named conference in New Orleans this week:
1. It took me two years to discover that the word "progressive," now used so freely in the Democratic Pary, is just another word for "liberal."
It seems the entrenched, liberal elitists, often wealthy enough to not have to really worry about who is President of the United States, had to coin a new word in order to describe who we are and what we espouse. Guess the right-wing succeeded in it's objective to demonize the word "liberal" to the point where we had to throw it out.
And just like that...snap!...another conference on poverty, social injustice, and other social ills is suddenly "brand new, improved" liberal hogwash!
2. The left-wing, liberal elitists are often more caught up with shoving it in their right-wing elitists' faces than in actually getting anything accomplished in our country. And often, in doing so, they manage to alienate alot of other Americans along the way!
3. The left-wing has talked poverty to death in this country for what? over 40 years since LBJ's "War on Poverty," and I have no confidence in the liberal left-wing to eradicate poverty. It's the same old worn-out platitudes wrapped in a new name, under a new banner, (like the word "progressive") by people who are above it all, and don't have to bear any of the responsibility when they fail.
4. Some of us were saying over 25 years ago that church leaders in America had abidicated their responsibility for social justice issues in exchange for political power, rides on Air Force One, and mega-churches that preach "feel good" platitudes (the kind that Obama is currently hung-up on, by the way!), but demand little, or no, personal responsibility for living out the basic tenants of a Christian faith.
I'm sorry to be the turd in the punch bowl at your party. But some of us are worn out with your "wow..golly...gee whiz..." sit-around-and-talk-it-to-death crap.
MEMO: To Tavis-Smiley
Are they replacing you with them? Well, given the decrease in numbers at the polls of YOU, perhaps. There, that answered his question in about 30 seconds.
You won't get rid of poverty in America until you change the work ethic from one of people not wanting to work their way out of poverty to an attitude where they accept that's exactly what the majority of us have to do regardless of what color we are!

THIS IS A JOKE, RIGHT?
[Read the article: Ask Pablo]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]This is not a serious page, right? Someone just asks these kinds of things, and this Pablo person tries to keep a straight face and answer it, right?
Well, just in case, it's serious. Here's the answer: No. If you have to ask for permission from some blogger to have another child, you should'nt have had the first one.
God help how ignorant, overly self-absorbed, and navel-gazing we have become in this country!

TRAGIC? HARDLY. MORE LIKE PATHETIC
[Read the article: The tragic fall of Eliot Spitzer]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]What is it with these guys that cannot keep their zippers up? I know, I know, there's some mysterious, deep psycological excuse as to why guys like Spitzer do these things: Have adulterous sex. Bullcrap! Guys screw around outside their marriage, because 1.) they can can get away with it; and, 2.)they can get away with it.
Human behavior really isn't that complex. Knowing right from wrong, and choosing to do wrong is as old as dirt. Spitzer chose to do wrong. He knew it could wreck his career, the public's trust, and his family life. He didn't care enough about any of those things to not do it.
I am sick of these guys dragging their wives on stage with them while they stand there either lying and denying, or confessing and asking for forgiveness. And what's up with these wives allowing themselves to be dragged up on stage? Does it occur to them to "just say no." As a woman, I am just as personally offended by them as much as I am by what their husbands have done.
Good riddance to bad trash!

WHO CARES?
[Read the article: Who cares if Eliot Spitzer hires prostitutes?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]1. His wife.
2. His daughters.
3. His mother and father.
4. The rest of both families.
5. The who uphold the laws.
6. The public he serves.
The laws may change some day, but until they do, Spitzer is guilty of engaging in a racketeering business as the pimps who own it!

OH FOR GOD'S SAKE!
[Read the article: How the press failed on Iraq]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]You are so like yesterday with this mea culpa stuff. The American people stopped respecting journalists, the media, and their info-taining industry years ago! It seems the only ones who are just finding that out are...you!
In a kind of ironic way, we really must thank you all for being so passive, lazy, and up the butts of those you were supposed to be questioning. Long about the time that the press remained silent about Bush not really flying that jet onto the aircraft carrier, then the Tillman fiasco, and the Jessica Lynch made-for-TV-Pentagon-producted-movie, we Americans started thinking for ourselves. We didn't need you to tell us what to think, thank you.
And now that you area all having your "come-to-Jesus-meetings," we still don't need you. We can read between the lines - and the lies - ourselves, thank you.

YOU NEED HELP!
[Read the article: The bowel movement]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]This is the most absurd thing I've read about in weeks. Yes, weeks, because it seems that this entire country has been "Oprahfried" every other week to fixate and navel gaze about yet another trivial piece of...crap.
