  • Obama and Nuclear Power Plants

[Read the article: Hillary's time of troubles]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

My other major reason for not voting for Obama: He want to build more nuclear power plants. Can you think of a more environmentally destructive energy policy that that? We have a major drought in this country, states arguing over water, and he wants to build more n. plants that require an extreme abundance of water. The cost overruns, and there are ALWAYS massive cost overruns, become a part of the taxpayers' problems. And we have yet to figure out what to do with the waste we already have from existing plants. In Ohio, First Energy hid major problems with their plant. I am disturbed that Obama has taken major contributions from the industry and is so eager to start building more of them.

That's not the energy policy that I was looking for - and it certainly isn't a break from the past. It's rushing right back to the past!

  • Man!

Did you give ANY thought to what you were doing? I got news for you, Dude: That ain't the American dream! And how interesting that you are so well fixed financially that you can afford to suck up $50,000 in a loss to be miserable some place else. Hmmm.

No sympathy for the materialistically challenged.

  • Yeah, That's About Right...

...think you got it summaried nicely. I decided not to go abroad for a few more years because I'm very worried about how Americans are perceived right now, especially after Bush and all that mess for the last 7 years. I worry that no one will ever respect us again. Films like this make me sick. And I get tired of the film industry glorifying these punk-ass kids.

  • Sissicification Started With Reagan - not after WWII

[Read the article: John McCain is running for sissy in chief]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The sisificiation of America began after WWII? No. Don't blame a generation who wanted a more comfortable way of life, who lived during the Depression, didn't have screens in their windows to eliminate mosquitoes and other disease-causing things, and so forth. We educated an entire generation of Americans after WWII- chemists, architects, scientists, doctors, teachers, and others - who made life better and helpled build our country. We had steel-workers and bridge-builders. And we were perceived as being strong and respected around the world.

We still made things that we could be proud of at the end of the day. And our lives had purpose. The next generation raised hell demanding change and that the country live up to it's ideals too - the 60's. Sure, there was the hippie, drugs, and rock 'n roll thing. But we also questioned a government that still excluded a large minority population from democratic population, how it treated its women, and the war it's government seemed hell-bent on fighting for another 20 years to no avail. Hardly sissy stuff.

No, the sissification of America began in earnest with Ronald Reagan and the backlash to the uneasiness, rapid change, and diviseness of the 60's. Reagan was Mr. Feel-Good and the country has been hooked on a steady dose of denial ever since, especially the right-wing types who long to be told that everything is going to be okay if you just stay out of the way and don't ask too many questions, thank you.

The Democratic response to the Republican sissification was to yield, acquiese, and condescend to the whole thing for over 12 years, and than again with George W. Bush. Does anyone really believe giving this sissy "pre-emptive war" powers was a smart thing to do? Nope. It was a sissy thing to do. They were so afraid of losing what little power they had, they simply cowered and tried to act reasonable. Big mistake. One doesn't "act reasonable" to stupidity, incompetence, or self-righteous indignation.

I saw a photo of Lloyd Bentson the other day, and Hubert H. Humphrey, and Sam Erwin, and Barbara Jordan, and Shirley Chisholm. And I wondered where all the good guys had gone. These were larger-than-life individuals who were with us just a short while ago. And they were not loud, crass, trash-talking, Hollywood Access-red-carpet-walking sissies. They just were.

  • First, The Good News....

[Read the article: My ex wants our 14-year-old daughter to witness his new wife's childbirth]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

...atleast the guy had the good sense to ask you for your permission. And now, the bad news: Why are you vacillating?

Your personal feelings in this do not matter. The girl should not be in that delivery room and that's final! It's his wife - it's their baby together. And it's NOT the teenage daughter's event-of-a-lifetime, and nor should it be.

She should be looking forward to celebrating her own childhood "firsts," like entering adulthood before she celebrates delivery-room childbirth. Even those of us who have already given birth sometimes finds it difficult to watch the reality TV shows on during the daytime of women giving birth!

No, she should not be there. Tell him "no," and do not yield if he whines.

  • Culkin?

  • Been Saying For Months Now...

[Read the article: Clinton uses McCain advisor's words for attack on Obama ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

that the Obama campaign has lifted every successful political one-liner ever spoken and threw it into the Obama Stump Stew. He's a good speaker, for sure. But he's copped everybody else's stuff like he's the first person to ever think it up.

The intellectual dishonesty in this campaign is overwhelming. He and his cult-like followers have played the martyr role since South Carolina, wearing it like a chip on his shoulder. I've grown weary of Obama-ites speaking harshly and derogatory about Hillary Clinton while proclaiming their guy as "untouchable." There's been a double standard at work in reporting these two campaigns and by the Obama campaign, in particular.

WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL? A CHOICE BETWEEN YET TWO MORE GUYS THIS NOVEMBER? NOW, HOW EARTH-SHATTERING IS THAT?
