SEND HIM AN INVOICE
[Read the article: My ex-con neighbor owes me money]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]...OKAY, DO IT TENNIS' WAY AND TUCK INTO A CHRISTMAS CARD ALREADY!
I'm sorry to be so cynical, but some people just have adifferent frame of reference. And this guy has problems for sure. He has a kid that is well on his way to following in the old man's footsteps, and the mother is...well, where is the mother?
I'm sure he's pissed about what the kid did, but is probably so caught up in his own drama that he can't figure out a way to parent. Maybe instead of presenting him with a huge bill, you could have given him an estimate first?
Send him an Invoice for the balance you are owed. Make it clear that you are sorry to have stressed him out with the bill, but that this is the way you earn a living. Tell him in the Invoice you will accept $10 per week. And pass along the name of a good psychologist for that kid while you're at it.
Then give him a "P.S. Come over for a beer sometime." Leave the door open for a continuation of the friendship, but I wouldn't go out of my way it if it doesn't materialize.

Why Don't You Just Pick One For Us?
[Read the article: Which Democrat is a winner?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]After 18 months of watching the media continally hype an Obama vs Clinton horserace, while trouncing John Edwards for a haircut and an expensive home, and the rest of the pack barely get a mention, I've decided to just sit here and let you guys in the media pick both the Democratic and Republican nominees.
After all, it's only been the last 10 days that the stories about who "real" people might choose have been surfacing, and I'm positive that's just for the purpose of show: a story that appears to reflect grass-roots politics in America.
So, go on, know-it-all cynics who gave us George W. Bush twice-pick the next disaster-waiting-to-happen.

Peggy Noonan:Cliche' Manufacturer Extrordinaire!
[Read the article: Peggy Noonan is a serious "grown-up"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The problem with Noonan is that she just has way too much time on her hands these days, and there's such a scarcity of right-wingers to provide that "other side." I mean, one can only handle Ann Coulter for so long before the eye-rolling starts to look like a medical condition: "How long you been like that?"
Absolutely no one thinks that Noonan should be taken seriously, except the elite media asses and they don' count as real people and absolutely no one takes them seriously either.
Noonan biggest claim to fame was as a speechwriter for Reagan. That explains it, doesn't it? She longs for the days when platitudes rolled out of the White House Oval office like Lucky Charms into your cereal bowl. Poor dear. She's been unable to find real work as a cliche' manufacturer since 9/11. Guess Americans area tired of cliches and the people who speak them after all.
Noonan is just jealous of John Edwards and the words he speaks and the fact that she didn't write them. Then again, I somehow get the feeling that words about a shrinking middle class, restoring American's greatness and respect, and stopping corporate greed would stick in Noonan's throat.

DICK CLARK - ROCKIN?
[Read the article: TV Daily]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Gee, Ancient Mariner, sorry you're you! I'm probably your age and have not even considered resiging myself to sitting at home eating chocolates and watching Dick Clark just to avoid the driving-while-drunk crowd.
I've been throwing great New Year's Even parties, like my family used to do when I was growing up during the time of Lawrence Welk and Guy Lombardo. You act like there's but two choices: Hit the bars and drink til you puke or sit at home watching TV.
You sound like a Boomer guy: Dull, boring, can't-golf-cuz-it's-winter,don't-break-up-my-comfort-zone, you-want-to-do-what? kind of guy. Where is your zest for life, dude? Glad I am not stuck at home on New Year's with you.

This Is News?
[Read the article: Oligarchical decay]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The so-called Establishment Elite have been getting away with murder and a host of other crimes for ages. This is just a variation on theme for them; i.e., electronic surveillance, spying on Americans, destroying evidence of crimes and other wrong-doings.
The question is this: Why do average Americans sit back and take it? Probably because those who do want to prosecute are the shrill partisans that you refer to, and those who don't care if we prosecute or not secretly wish they were the elite (but never will be!).

Money...money...money...mon-eeey
[Read the article: The year in sports]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"and the dollar continued to rise against a backdrop of over-hyped and overly exaggerated claims of talent in the world of sports this year."
Tell me: Who in the hell is worth $27 million dollars for playing with a ball?
