I really hope these women can pull this one off. No pun intended.

I hope with all my heart that nothing bad happens to them

    if they do this show.

It will be a test of sorts and I really hope they have top security surrounding them.

Even after the show it would behoove the tv people to provide some sort of follow-up security or tv coverage.

    finger crossed and hopeful

  • el fuego

[Read the article: The burning question]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

As a socal native I feel we need to fight the fires.

Controlled burns do not work. The Marines set their own backfire last week that got away from them and turned into the Hornay fire, for instance.

Controlled fires will just grow faster burning grasses. The Santa Ana's are our fire season. I have been evacuated out of three houses, and one house burned. It is just the way it is. People need to create a weed free zone around their house and put up sprinklers and grow ice plant and have a fire escape plan for themselves AND their animals.

San Diego was evacuated in scheduled waves, which worked very well.

Arsonists can't be controlled. Mother Nature can't be controlled, completely.

Developers can and should be controlled.

  • Creating a Palestinian State

[Read the article: The real two-state solution]

You make many good points but the fact remains: The israelis need to leave and return the occupied territories immediately....and take their airport and military with them. Too bad if the people in the settlements don't like it. They should never have been there in the first place. Why pretend they are not the oppressers here? The Palestinians need their own state...or is it a one way street for the Israelis?

Fair is fair. The world is watching.

  • is rape off limitts for laughs

[Read the article: Is rape off-limits for laughs?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I don't think anything is off limits for laughs; great comedy comes from pain.

I myself am a victim of a serial rapist who kidnapped and detained me. The story is even more insane from there....when the rapist SUED ME IN CIVIL COURT FOR DEFAMATION OF CHARACTER AND LOSS OF INCOME AFTER HE HAD BEEN CONVICTED! hahaha.

When I started thinking about this I "wrote" a sketch in my head regarding my experience that was pretty funny.

See, I grew up in the fifties. Nothing was talked about. Nothing.

I long for the sixties. Those were interesting times.

People are very depressed and subdued these days. The only rights we did not sign away in the Patriot Act I hear is the right to quarter soldiers....although if any of these soldiers looked like Brat Pitt in that Troy movie I would not mind quartering them.

If you can't laugh, you can't examine the pain. It festers.

Like one of my editors who was a quadraplegic facing the elevator during a fire reading the sign that says...."during a fire, use the stairs." hahahahaha.

  • Jamie Spears

[Read the article: Shaming Jamie Lynn Spears]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

In reality, before modern medicine and nutrition, 16 year old pregnant women were probably the norm.

The age of death being around 36.

You can't ignore thousands of years of biology.

Teens have sex and teens get pregnant because their bodies are ready to further the species.

Now sometimes parents can teach what to do but, gasp, teenage brains may not be ready to do what the parents have taught.

I wonder how many of us were "accidents?"

I bet we ALL would be surprised if we were told the truth about our parents plans for having kids, and what actually happened.

TV has taken over our lives. Look at all the stars getting attention, at the moment, for having children!

Just because a young woman gets pregnant does not mean she is unclean. It just means it was an unplanned pregnancy. Let's try to use that as a springboard for talking to our children, not this ugly rush to judgement being heaped on a 16 year old young woman.
